  We needed a comfortable, affordable bike friendly place to stay in town before heading out on the GAP trail. SSTR fit the bill perfectly. The owners were friendly and welcoming and even gave us some help with some pre-ride repairs. Highly recommend this place!

  A Family trip to Pittsburgh brought us to SSTR last weekend. The accommodations were perfect for us. Teens were upstairs in a very comfortable, clean room with a shared bathroom. My daughter and I, more luxuriously situated in the spacious Byers Suite. The suite came with 12 ft ceiling, incredible hard wood paneling, beautifully restored, fireplace and truly elegant details. The bed was top quality, with linens to match. The bathroom was comfortable and well designed in industrial style with amenities and great details. All was immaculate. The great room was a showcase for the turn of the century building with the same beautiful wood paneling, huge, comfortable couch and custom industrial themed accents. All was very reasonably priced, centrally located and we can recommend this fabulous hostel to all travelers seeking an affordable yet delightful alternative to chain hotels. In addition the hosts were gracious, great sources of information about local events and restaurants.

  This is a lovely new hostel, beds are comfortable and showers are hot. Close to downtown. Lovely staff!!

  First guest ever!! Hot showers, comfortable beds, and the friendliest hosts!! Just what I needed after a long day of work. Paul and MB have a beautiful slice of Pittsburgh history that they want to share with visitors, and I look forward to staying here again.
