::An relatively old establishment yet has its own charm. Location being in downtown Oakland just across the convention center is excellent! Quality of the rooms are average for it's age. Is missing a few amenities like a microwave and ice/vending machines on site. Overall quality is average to above average. Would stay at again.

::The location is about the only good thing about this place. Very old and run down, the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on, the elevator is very sketchy so I took the stairs. I did like the old time feel of the place but it's not even worth $100 per night, maybe $60.

::If anyone is looking for great deals on hotels go to HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around... The entire hotel has maintained its original decor and an old feel to it but looks clean and nice. The rooms were nice and comfortable

::This hotel was clearly a beautiful hotel many, many years ago. Unfortunately, it's now a bit threadbare and worn - the carpet is bare, and the furniture in the lobby is worn and faded, for example. That being said for the money it is your best bet in downtown Oakland (the only nicer hotels are the two Marriott properties, which are often 2-3x the price). The location is excellent. The hotel is located right in downtown, across the street from the convention center and the BART. It's also in Old Oakland, which is a cute part of town with good dinner options all around. I recommend in particular Swann's and the Trappist. The rooms here are small and basic and a little threadbare, but clean. I recommend earplugs as you are in downtown and street noise is audible from the lower floors. The breakfast is also basic - toast, hard boiled eggs, coffee, and instant oatmeal - but it gets the job done and is included in the rate. Not the Ritz by any means but again - for the money in downtown Oakland it can't be beat.

::The good thing about this place is it's location in the city center, and the room is spacious, clean and comfy bed. But the service is here is awful. The reason why I booked here because it says continental breakfast is included, but since my first day there, no continental breakfast. Only cheap coffee, orange juice and slices cake from the supermarket next door. When I ask the reception, basically she says ' my manager decided no continental breakfast today because we don't have enough guests due to holidays season' I was shock, I never had any service like this before. She don't even bother me and busy on her phone while answering my phone.
