::I came to this facility for help with depression and anxiety. I was informed by my employer to seek therapy and have FMLA paperwork filled out if I needed time off. My first session went well until I mentioned this paperwork, I was told the social worker ( was not aware that I wasnt meeting with a psychologist ) would have to ask the office manager for approval to fill out the paperwork. I waited 24 hours with no response so I returned back to the office for an update. The receptionist was rude and did not attempt to be helpful. When I asked if the documentation was completed she quickly responded " No, the office manager is not here" and looked back at her screen. Then I asked if the social worker who saw me was available and studdered, "No...... she's in session" , then looked back at her screen. Then I asked, when willshe be available for a quick question, she replied " I dont know the book is not in front of me " , at this time she wasnt even attempting to converse eye to eye which was very rude. Then I asked, well Can you look at the book ( as i was staring at it) .. another employee jumped in and helped me and said the social worker would be available in 10 min. In less than 2 minutes the Social worker came to answer my question ( I did not see any patients leave through the only door to the waiting area ) .. at this point not only did i receive the worst help, now I feel like i was being lied too. The socialworker informed because I was not her patient, she was not able to write me a letter for work and if the paperwork was to be filled out, there would be a charge. At this point I was not eager to be confrontational. I do not understand what is necessary for someone to qualify as a patient. I paid a copay, they are charging my insurance and I had a session...also the paperwork was to inform my office that I would be seeking therapy in the future at whatever frequency they thought best. I was extremely dissapointed as I was missing days from work and seeking help from this facility was of zero help. Before I left I made certain to inform the receptionist that her interpersonal skills needed help and that there are people who come to that office who have mental health issues. My patient experience with her was awful. Yes she helped me get a fast appointment however she was rude and cold and was not interested in what I needed at all. Because of her I will never go back to Biofeedback. The front staff needs training on how to deliver an excellent patient experience ! I work for NYU and and I know first hand that this is unacceptable.
