I'm bias. I'm an ex employee. Who really missed a wonderful opportunity. But . Live and learn. But you need to experience the Granada for yourself .

EVERY hotel has its share of problems and the Granada is no exception. Most of the staff [management could use a course in ] is cool and the tenants/residents (for me) is like family. The monthly rent is a bit ABOVE market value!πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺπŸ˜‚

This place is not a hotel. It's a residential housing for vets, drug addicts, elders on death's door and crazy people. Every other day somebody is wheeled through the lobby by emts to an ambulance because somebody either stroked out or overdosed. I'm surprised the paramedics could get to the rooms because usually one of the elevators is inoperable. The man who runs the dining room plays favorites to his homies by allowing them to stay in the hall after he chases everybody else out. I called it the old black man's club. The food isn't well prepared or presented, and there are no kosher selections. One busboy almost runs people out of the room by snatching plates off the tables before the diner is finished eating his food. One woman doesn't understand and speaks English worse. So when she's asked me my order, I received something I didn't order. For $9 I expect to get what I ordered. The desk clerks aren't much better. My friend has lived there for a year, yet every time I signed in to see her, the clerks didn't know her room number her name or couldnt find her name. Dismissively, they tell me to call her own my cell phone, yet the building's wi-fi blocks my calls from the lobby and I must go outside to make the call. To one male desk clerk I complained about the residents smoking in front of the open doors - a fire hazard - as I was sitting in the lobby awaiting my friend. He did nothing because he was smoking right outside the door with them, I noticed later. The rooms are small and my friend has complained about bedbugs in her room. The only good thing about this place is it's subsidized for veterans. Otherwise, I would stay away, far, far away from it.

Best retirement hotel in the City for low income and disabled folks. Rooms with private baths are available at an additional cost. A meal plan (three multi-course meals a day) is also available at an additional cost, and the food is surprisingly good and balanced nutritionally. Lots of activities to keep my 79 year old mom active and social, among the normal cast of colorful San Francisco characters she's enjoyed since she came to SF in 1953.
