Absolutely beautiful hotel. The one double room was quaint and small, but just the right amount of room. Clean, staff was friendly, and the space was gorgeous. It's close to the bean and the theater as well as many restaurants. I loved my stay here! Can be a little loud with the train running right outside.

Helpful, courteous staff and a beautiful location. Everyone, from the front desk, to the bellhops, to the restaurant staff to the room service was incredibly helpful. The room we had has lovely. Other reviewers said it was small but we weren't in Chicago's theater district to sit in our room. It was spacious enough, the bed was comfortable and it was clean and well kept. The brunch offered at the Lockwood was over the top delicious and again, the staff was attentive and friendly. We couldn't have enjoyed our stay more!

Stayed at the Palmer House for the weekend to catch some theatre. It's walking distance to "Hamilton"... My wife upgraded us to a suite in the historic section of the hotel. The room was amazing!! Spacious beyond compare, robes, slippers, etc. It was clean and luxurious with plenty of charm. The restaurant was adequate, very pricey for the quality. There are enough restaurants that are an easy walk that I would suggest a brief stroll for at least one meal. The lobby bar is worth a visit, and the pro bartenders make some great tasting cocktails.

A wonderful mix of the old and the new. If you can manage it stay on one of the executive floors, the perks are well worth it. The Palmer House is an oasis of tranquility in the midst of a busy and sometimes chaotic Chicago. You can eat, sleep, shop, and explore the elegance of a past era without ever leaving the hotel. It's just a five-minute walk from the Art Institute and a dozen restaurants and a couple of theaters if you venture out. If you've never stayed here, you owe it to yourself to do it at least once.

Pros: Location is pretty good for tourism. It lies within walking distance from major attractions. Cleanliness very good also. Cons: Lots of things: (1) Train noise until 12 am and restart at 6 am. Room is at same height of elevated train of Loop. Windows are not sound proof. I asked to switch rooms but they declined for two days until they have other available; (2) Few staff compared to guests quantity; (3) Staff is not kind. (4) Run-down hotel. It needs a urgent retrofit. It used to be a very good hotel in the past. In the past! (5) No way I will recommend this hotel to anyone in the world.
