If you want to feel like you left Memphis and went to NYC or Miami, then head here. And no, that's not a complement. My wife and I tried to go there for a random happy hour on the roof and were instantly hit with this feeling like we didn't belong. The vibe and culture behind this place, from the hotel to the bar, is not what you would find in most places in Memphis, let alone the South. It was trashy, desperate, and cold. It seemed aggressive about being trendy and didn't seem to care about any real culture other than high priced drinks and a snobby atmosphere, a mood we got from everyone that worked there across the board. Stay away. There are far better hotels to stay at if you want to stay in Memphis, or for a drink.

Nice, clean rooms. Friendly staff. Fantastic water pressure. Coffee and breakfast bars in lobby. We would definitely stay there again!

This is a nice hotel with a few quirks. First off, the restaurant and roof-top bar is closed for renovation. A representative from the hotel did call me a week before we arrived to inform us of this, but it does strike me as odd for this class of hotel. If you like room service, that will not be available. Looking into the restaurant through the glass door, I’m wondering if any renovation is happening – I’m not seeing any construction. It looks like the restaurant and rooftop bar used to be quite nice. If you Google “Madison Hotel” and “eighty3” you’ll find some details. They’ve described the hotel as a “four diamond chic hotel housing cool urban designs, luxury accommodations and a sophisticated atmosphere.” I would call the design nice and the fixtures current. Attached you will see a picture of a faucet in the bathroom which was in great condition but I wouldn’t call it cool urban design. I guess it’s all subjective. Another quirk was this very nice but pretty much unfunctional iPhone dock in the room. It’s a Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Air iPhone Dock with an Apple 30-pin connection. What this means in practical terms is if you have an iPhone 5 or later, you wouldn’t be able to use this connection without a separate adapter. Or you could use the Airplay functionality if you wanted to figure it out. This device used to go for around $650 but I would be hard pressed to think that many hotel guests take advantage of it. Like I said, nice hotel but has some quirks. BTW – we were there for 3 nights; if you go to the website specials, they have one where you buy two and get one free.

The Madison has a grand luxury feeling to it. The staff is absurdly nice and very helpful. Parking was a bit of an issue, they don't mention the valet they offer costs an additional $30 per night. We ended up parking a few blocks down the street for about half that, though there may be better deals to be had. The standard room is a little on the small size, but it's cozy and was still a great stay

The hotel is situated downtown. If enjoy a downtown craziness of fun this place is good. All employees were great! They were very attentive and helpful. The rooms are very cozy. The bed was very comfortable.
