My 5 star rating is for the quiet weekdays, not the weekend Pike Pine madness. I'm too old to visit that corridor on Friday and Saturday nights. But Sunday through Wednesday (and maybe Thursday) it's a nice place to duck into for a cold beer. The bartenders are all very nice. I also like the food a lot. Simple, tasty, economical, and hits the spot. I usually ask for a vegan burrito to be served up as a plate, getting rid of the tortilla. Again, I'm old - can do without those calories.

Good tacos. Fast service. Relatively friendly staff. We ordered ten tacos to go and they were on point! Thanks.

This is a tough review because upon immediately walking in you could tell there's a history to Bimbos Cantina and it's most likely been around Capitol Hill for quite some time. Unfortunately, there's just not a lot of positives. They had a security/doorman checking IDs the second you walk in and while he was looking over my ID I made small talk by asking how his day was going, to which he responded "Oh...I've been better." I should've put more thought into this interaction because it really set the tone for the 45 minutes my wife and I spent inside for dinner. It took nearly 10 minutes for the waitress bring water and ask for drinks. We went with a basic gin and tonic w/ lime and began looking over the menu. Let me start off by saying there's not many ways you can get a gin and tonic wrong but the drinks were just not very good. Also, there's a lot of standing around by the staff when they could be checking on customers and the needs. We saw two couples come in and have a seat only to get up and walk out 10 minutes later after not being helped- worst part about it is they had to notice, it just didn't seem to interrupt any of the staff's conversations with each other. The food was probably the worst Mexican food I've ever had. I mean, I've tasted better tacos at Taco Bell. We ended up eating one of the four we ordered and the rice and beans really looked and smelled like they had been left out overnight. I'm not sure if we came in at the worst possible time (although the place was maybe 1/4 full) or this is what to expect. I can't see it being much better though.

Bimbo's wins the award for Worst Taco I've Ever Had. It tasted like something you'd get in an elementary school cafeteria. Rubbery cold storebought tortilla, mushy flavorless meat with a pile of stale romaine lettuce and shredded mozzarella cheese. I couldn't believe how bad the food was and how unkind the bartenders and servers were.

I had been to this place a few times a couple of years back and always had a great time. We hadn't been there for years so we decided to go again today. That place has taken a nose dive in all aspects. Service was lackluster, and the food was not good at all. The burrito we ordered made one person in our party very sick (she still hasn't recovered 24 hours later). We are not coming back; that's a shame since this used to be such a great place which encapsulated the essence of Capitol Hill.
