The rooftop pool is small, no hot tub, only 3 umbrellas underneath a 100 degree sun, they give you a refrigerator but no microwave in the room, they're friendly when they notice you but if they don't notice you right away then you're kind of stuck listening to their personal conversations for a bit as you awkwardly try to get their attention...they automatically charge an 18% gratuity at the bars but still offer an additional tip line for people that couldn't say what kind of beer they had on tap when asked. Half of the taps were empty when we ordered them, and the view from the window was a grey wall. Our friend had a good view, but she also had to deal with a 4:00 AM construction crew waking her up and keeping her up despite the ear plugs the hotel provided. The breakfast said complimentary, but when you go downstairs to get it, there is a sign that says to pay for what you take up at the check-in stand. It seems like a good attempt for a new, edgy, chic hotel, but in application it's got a ways to go...we were in the pool in the evening, and although there is no sign informing when it closes, a random security guard showed up and decided that rather than using words, he just gestured a lot and found his way over to the overlook and waited for us to leave. We asked if the pool was closed for the night, and he just nodded. It was weird. I'm not sure who is in management here, but they have a long way to go as far as efficiency. I could get better information and service from a Holiday Inn at half of the price.

I love this hotel. No complaints. Awesome gym and pool. Wish they had free breakfast but Iā€™m not complaining. I had fun playing pool. Such a nice and fun place to stay. Great location !

the staff at Aloft was awesome! Thank you for making our stay easy and comfortable. The rooms were super clean & smoke free. The guy at the receptionist desk was very helpful and kind. They provided us an area for dance rehearsal at 11pm & dealt with our crazy 24 hr valet requests. If you looking for food you would have to walk at least 2 blocks before you find something. if your super hungry, the closest thing you can get for food/snacks would be at the hotel lobby.

My husband and I flew in from out of town and were extremely pleased with our stay. Matthew, at the front desk, was very friendly, accommodating, and helpful during our stay. He provided suggestions for food and drink and let us be on the same floor as the fitness facility. The room was modern and chic and very clean. The hotel is within walking distance of some very fabulous bars and restaurants. I would definitely recommend staying at the Aloft Downtown Houston.

Hotel room is nice, clean, modern decorations. Heat in the room didn't work, front desk promptly fixed it when I bought it to their attention (edit - apparently the AC control in the room means nothing, went back to front desk cause they set it too warm, and now it's back to too cold) . Only negative for me is the 35$ valet parking with no self parking. Parked a block away for half the price. (For 5 nights it adds up and I'm a cheapo). Valet staff is accommodating though. Let me check in, unload my car and on another occasion run up to my room for my cell charger.
