::Horrendous experience: My favorite cake in the world is their White Chocolate Mousse Cake. As a surprise for Mother's Day, my husband ordered this cake for me. While waiting, he asked if a cookie they had in their case was a chocolate chip cookie, to which he was told Yes. About 20 mins after eating the cookie, my husband had a near fatal allergic reaction to the cookie. He has a nut allergy and was not told nor was there any signage letting patrons know that the chocolate chip cookie contained walnuts! He spent 6 hrs in the ER hooked up to IVs. His Dr. told him this reaction could have been fatal. When I called to speak to someone in management about the incident, they were rude and said that they have never had an incident like this occur. The manager named Anton said that he 'will see about getting signage about letting people know that their products contain nuts.' This has left a very bad taste in my mouth and I will no longer have anything to do with their bakery or their products and for everyone out there that has a nut allergy, consider yourself warned. The owners of this bakery will not take any responsibility if you get sick or even worse, die.

::Their cakes are of superlative delights and genuinely made from their own original recipes. Truly mouthwatering.

::I have been a fan of Watergate Pastry since the late 1970's, when the Watergate complex was a major architectural wonder, and its restaurants and hotel were THE places to be seen in DC. The pastry shoppe was famous for the chocolate mousse cakes and their exquisite pastries. The white chocolate mousse has been a favorite in our family for more than 30 years. Although the buildings are crumbling, and the hotel and the restaurants are gone, inside the courtyard on the lower level, sits the same Watergate Pastry...with the delectable treats they always had, along with a few new ones worth trying. I tell anyone that will listen to me that they absolutely must try this amazing gem in NW DC, that is worth the extra effort to get into the complex....they will not be disappointed!
