::The "charm" folks describe is really just a place being left to deteriorate. The smells are real throughout and gross (think: microwaved fish and bleach). Everything in my room was sticky. I didn't trust that the sheets were clean. The pillows were little more than folded up towels. And supposedly I had one of the nicer rooms. Literally can stay in downtown SF at the Hyatt for $20-$30 more than this place. Please avoid.

::Everyone here is sweet kind friendly and accommodating. Two thumbs up on the continental breakfast, with seriously good coffee and my favorite creamer options. Victorian Bar space seems underutilized.

::This place was very cute but very outdated. Rooms were a bit small, but it gave it such a new York feeling. Parking was $25 across the hotel, and there is parking outside but apparently it's not safe (break-ins). The Staff were kind, our shower's cold water wasn't working and they came to fix it in less than 5 minutes. We visited in November and the location was such a cute fall vibe, also plenty or night life around! You get for what you pay for.

::This hotel has such an amazing, genuinely caring and accommodating staff. I’m A regular Choice Hotel client and I am in hotels for a few days every month. I get such a great care here at the Washington Inn. The Washington Inn is across the street from the Marriott hotel. I have no desire whatsoever to stay at the Marriott instead of the Washington Inn period this hotel is so charming and has such character. Each room just gives you a great feeling being here. It was built in 1913, and I just love visiting a part of history here. As a rule when I go into any hotel I’ll clean it to my specs each and every time upon entrance of the door on every surface I sanitize. Each and every time I’ve come to the Washington Inn, my white cleaning cloths have been absolutely spotless. Not even visible dust. The linen on the bed including the blanket and duvet cover is freshly laundered. And let me tell you that does not happen at other hotels. The housekeeping staff is phenomenal absolutely phenomenal. And you feel as if the air is clean. At this point if I were to find some dust there would be not one word I would say about it because they are very thorough with being sanitary in each room. And I have stayed in several of these rooms, because I choose not to go anywhere else when I come to this area of Oakland . If you can’t tell yet I am a very very satisfied customer. I just love it.

::Aside from being a nostalgic structure with Victorian overtones, this is really a bare-bones hotel. Here on business and usually bringing an assortment of food, I found the lack of refrigerators not quite as alarming as the broken ice machine. No ice. No accommodations regarding the lack of ice. Perishables perished this trip. Beds were so-so, uncomfortable, but the sheets were clean; the bedspread however had seen, well, apparently really better days... Not really a user-friendly hotel for the business traveler. However, budget friendly for a budget inn. Didn't work very well for me.
