The Hotel Contessa was the host hotel of a seminar we were attending this past March. We had reserved 3 different rooms for a total of 10 nights as we had invited our staff for the weekend. The photos on the website look quite a bit nicer than the rooms actually were and I was very hesitant when we checked in. The person who checked us in assured us that this was a very luxurious hotel and the rooms were very nice. They aren’t! When I think of luxury I think of something clean, comfortable and definitely as nice or nicer than my own home. I have to say this hotel has the worst hotel management I have ever experienced. We had bugs in our bed! Disgusting! The cleanliness of the room was the first clue. When we arrived, the sofa cushion had glitter and dead grass and the floors definitely needed to be vacuumed. The second morning we woke up my husband thought there was black lint in the bed so we were brushing it out with our hands. Then his back was itchy with red spots. I went back to discover it was not lint we had bed bugs in our sheets. We called the management but they didn't seem to care, would not even offer a refund on our rooms. Fortunately, we were able to find another hotel. In our haste we had left a few items in the rooms and gone back to retrieve them later in the day. The most disturbing part of this experience was rather than having the room exterminated, they had simply had the maid come in and clean to turn it over for the next guest. Sure hope they don't get our rooms! I wish I could say it was only our room, but our staff also had bugs in their sheets. I honestly did not want to post this review but I was so shocked by their lack of concern, consideration for our accommodations and commitment to correct the problem that they left no options. We brought the problem to the attention of the company sponsoring the seminar. They told us that the management had agreed to take care of the charges of our rooms. Well they did remove the charges for about 5 days and then put them all back on. This hotel not only has bed bugs but has also has very dishonest management.

I came to the hotel to attend a professional event. Sadly it was during Fiesta which meant it was super packed downtown, traffic was a mess and the hotel was busy. Despite that fact the hotel was very proficient and polite. During the event the staff was very accommodating to my dietary restrictions. I had told them not to worry but they insisted and provided a delicious meal. My complaint? No signage. The staff acted as if I should have known where things were. Being my first time there, I spent part of my time wandering around to find things (front desk, event room, restrooms, usual needs). Otherwise very nice experience.

Beautiful hotel expensive but nice. Staff is very nice. Location is good and close to the river walk. This hotel is worth the money if you plan to spend a lot of time at hotel. If you like nice hotels this one is good but if you rather save money, other hotels offer just the same for less

Wonderful location! Close to area attractions and restaurants on the beautiful river walk. We even walked to the Pearl area, took about 45 minutes, but amazing and worth It! Absolutely loved the rooftop pool! Staff very pleasant and helpful! Will stay here again!

This hotel is top notch. From the time we pulled into the valet parking to the rooms to the decor. I was very impressed with the friendly smiling staff. This place has handicap access, convenient restaurants, and restrooms on every floor. The rooftop pool has a spectacular views of the city. I will definitely recommend staying here whenever your going to San Antonio.
