  Shapiro's is the bomb. The food is always good and fresh and you never walk out of there hungry. I also have some fresh deli meat and Breads and cookies and all kinds of goodies you can buy and take home. Definitely recommend

  Another Indy fave! Huge lunch meat sandwiches! Great hot entree’s too! Delicious desserts! I can’t pick a favorite dessert as everyone I’ve tried has been wonderful! Clean facility. Love you can also take out deli meat and desserts! Usually crowded, but line moves fast and it’s not crazy loud. Convenient location near downtown and the highway! Little on the pricey side, but worth it!

  Shapiro's is a staple of Indianapolis and are widely known for their corned beef. I visited the restaurant during a work trip and overall had a pleasant experience. It is within walking distance of the Indiana convention center but there is also ample parking if you prefer to drive. The food is served school-lunch style. You wait in line, grab a tray, tell the employee across the glass what menu choice you've made, then they prepare it in front of you. There are plates of deserts and side dishes ready to pick up as you go through the line. They have two new style soda fountains. I had the Reuben and potato pancake. The plate comes with a pickle. The reuben was huge and had good flavor but the potato pancake was flavorless. While the diner is large and had no trouble seating our party of 6 at peak lunch, the restaurant looks dated and could use some updating.

  I love food. I love delis. This deli completely blew me away. I had the pastrami on rye with mustard and Swiss. It was the single greatest sandwich I have ever had. I was glad I was there with a friend: having him there forced me to compose myself and not start crying in public over how sublime the pastrami was. You can immediately see why Shapiro's has stood the test of time. In a word: quality. The food is outstanding. The staff are friendly and incredibly hard working. They are also kind to each other. If you visit Indianapolis you need to visit this wonderful place. I am so glad I did.

  One of the city's finest culinary offerings. While I have explored a number of things on their menu, my favorite for nearly 34 years remains the corned beef on their delicious rye bread, with Gulden's spicy mustard. I have the Swiss cheese on the side. Their rye bread is very light, a perfect compliment to the corned beef. As good as their Reuben is, I prefer to savor the corned beef with less distractions. I will often have deviled eggs, as well. On the rare occasion that I have room for dessert? Shapiro's rhubarb pie is the best I've found in years. This meal is one of my very favorite ways to round out a trip to Indianapolis.
