::I cannot believe this place is listed as a "mansion". We found a run down old house that was furnished very gaudy and distasteful. I too was suckered in by a Memphis brochure with this elegant description of a historic bed and breakfast and was also extremely disillusioned with a very sketchy, run-down neighborhood. Funny how they don't show the spiked wrought iron fence surrounding the property in their pictures. No security guard greeted us. We went to the front door and was also met with someone we believe to be inebriated and was told to wait in the front room. I had a bad feeling when the front doors were locked and there were iron bars on the windows. A rather abrupt woman who also seemed sloshed, came into the front room and said to follow her. She pointed toward the gaudy dining room and said breakfast would be served in there. She took us out back to the sheds that have been remodeled and opened the door to one of the most hilariously gaudy rooms I have ever seen in my life. This happened to be the wrong room. Then she took us to another shed-looking place that was secluded at the back of the property. It was also gaudily decorated. The ad we read mentioned jetted tubs....we had a dirty shower. The woman informed us she was the manager and gave us her cell in case we needed anything and that she lived in the other side of the "shed". I was so uncomfortable I absolutely WOULD NOT stay here for any amount of money in the world. When I also told them this was absolutely NOT what I expected she said, "Well why not? Why don't you want to stay here?" I told her that the gentleman on the phone I made the reservation did not represent the place properly. He made no mention of the surrounding area. I told them I would absolutely NOT stay here and left. They were the rudest, most unprofessional staff I have ever witnessed in my entire life. If I could possibly persuade anyone, DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER STAYING HERE!!!!! Don't know where they got these reviews, but trust me, they are all lies!!!!!!!!!!

::It is breathtaking. It was beautifully decorated and very clean. Margie was the most helpful host and nothing was too much! I would recommend the Roulhac to anyone wanting to stay in Memphis rather than impersonal hotels or motels. Its good old fashioned hospitality. When we booked this hotel from England, we didn't know what to expect, a gamble which paid dividends.
