  If you are homeless and need a place to stay until you get back on your feet... this would be a good last resort. As for a place to stay while on vacation... we left early to get away from the gunfire and bike gangs running the streets. The bullet proofing around the lobby area should have been my first sign to not even check in!

  Paré solamente por un día para hacer escalada en newark. Lo positivo su cercanía al aeropuerto. La gente que nos atendió fue cordial. No esta ubicado en buena zona. Es un hotel antiguo. La habitacion es completa aunque la cama dura.

  This place...avoid like the plague. The town is very sketchy and the other guests scared me. I have stayed in many cheap hotels all my life and I have never experienced anything like this. Bathroom was absolutely filthy. Cobwebs, dust, staines on my pillow case. I swear I heard gunshots outside but since it was memorial day I really hope it was just fireworks. The elevator smelled of weed and God knows what else. This is is not for the person or persons who have never experienced The HOOD! I was too afraid to sleep...this place is awful. It needs to be gutted and redone from the inside out or, better yet, demolished completely.

  You should have the option of -5 stars for this hotel. The most horrible smelly "hotel" I have ever seen. This is a homeless shelter. Not only the place smells like pee and cigarettes, we 2 (girls ), were given a room that was occupied. As we opened the door a men who was obvious in a deep sleep jumped out of bed and pointed a gun to us. Long story short, we ran and demanded for our money. I felt betrayed by this website for guiding us there.

  We we're looking for a clean, comfortable and inexpensive place for 2 nights. Rivera Hotel fit the bill. The staff was very friendly and helpful as we're the other residents. The elevator had its own personality, but eventually got you to the right floor. I felt safe walking around but most would not. I wish Expedia had more current pictures because their pictures were a bit deceptive. Overall, I was content with my stay.
