::The greatest island that New York has. There are tons of things to do on the island such as biking, picnics and visiting monuments all over the park. The island has food but its a bit pricey. There is little to no cell phone service. Check the ferry schedule to make sure you have enough time to do everything you want to before it closes.

::Governors Island is a 172 acre island in the heart of New York Harbor. It’s only 800 yards from Lower Manhattan, and even closer to Brooklyn. ::Beautiful island and a great escape from the city. The ice cream shop, hammock Grove and the lookout at Lady Liberty were the favorites of the trip there. The oyster bar is also a great place to relax after walking around all day.

::Truly one of the best places in NYC. A trip back in time to a simpler life of quiet relaxation and natural beauty. The island is a fetching twist of throwback abandoned coast guard buildings and an array of modern outdoor activities including lookout hills, lazy hammocks, a collection of slides and playgrounds for the younger set. The best way to see the Governors Island is to rent a bike or a surrey and ride with the freedom that a virtually vehicle-free island affords. Dining is limited to food trucks and casual fare but gets better every year.
