This place is horrible. Do not bring your loved ones here. The CNA's have been good with my Mom. There are not enough therapists or CNA's. My Mom was supposed to be getting respiratory therapy. Family members had to ask several times to make this happen. The rooms are decent. The food is always cold and overcooked. You don't get what you asked for. Mom ordered salad numerous times. She was always told they ran out. When was it her turn to get the salad and have someone else be told they ran out? Another question is why are they running out at all? Charge RN's basically sit at the desk and don't help on the floor. There was one exception. The doctors are horrible, never on the same page. This unfortunately is becoming the norm everywhere. They will see you 1x week, the delay in follow up is beyond ridiculous. The floor my Mom was on was quanitined due to the flu. The RN giving out meds always wore a mask & gloves. Some CNA's did, some didn't. Some touched her nebulizer mask without gloves. You have a flu outbreak, quanitined the floor but don't require staff and visitors to wear masks and gloves? House keeping did not wear masks. House keeping also sprayed aerosol lysol on door handles instead of wiping them. You have elderly people with respiratory problems, you don't spray anything aerosol. My Mom also suffers from anemia. Family had asked them for weeks to do an iron test because Mom was feeling so weak. Just today they got the results and guess what folks she is anemic. So now another iv has to go in to increase her iron level. My Mom should not have to suffer due to their lack of appropriate follow through. A week ago she had markers for pneumonia, they tried to get an iv in 8 times on one day, 9 times the next. Please know that the law only allows one person to stick you three times then they have to get someone else. So, when they couldn't get it one day they decided to wait until the next day which meant she didn't get her antibiotic, lasix or steriod. From the top down the lack of communication is awful. Mom has been there almost a month and in my view if they had been on top of all her conditions she would have been home already. This was shared to me by a staff member, "if you have good insurance they will do there best to keep your there until it runs out." I am appalled. This place deserves to be reported & I will.

The greeting you get as you enter is always nice but the kindness ends after your first whiff of urine. The smell of urine is over powering and tells me they must be understaffed. Some parts of the facility are average at best while other areas are weathered and filthy. I noticed quite a few people wandering hallways on rainy days while on nicer days they are conducting smoking conventions outside. You would think a facility having anything to do with "restorative" or "rehabilitation" would limit smoking but I guess you spend enough time there it's not much different than prison. Some staff members and nurses are kind and hardworking while others are texting and gossiping while they should be working. Lauren and Kathleen standout as the most kind, caring and patient in the long term facility. I can't remember all their names but there were a few others that were good as well. Also, many wheelchair bound geriatric patient alone in the hallways with no staff nearby or paying attention. One day I helped an older man, who desperately needed a shower, work his cellphone to call his sister and on another day I helped a woman who’s wheel chair got stuck on a metal table outside. The new bakery is nice but even the staff members working in there seem unhappy and mad whenever you ask for something. It’s a nice area spoiled by staff who clearly don’t like being there. I would not recommend this place to anyone I like.

I have worked in Human Resources for over 35 years and have never seen this level of poor service. When staff are openly rude to patients in the present of administrators, it's time to start over. When the administrator Amy Elba won't see relatives of patients, even when a loved one died here, it's time to fire her! It seems others have had the same abusive experience yet nothing has changed. Why? Who is minding the store and why are they looking the "other way"? The place is dirty. Disorganized. Unprofessional. No doubt many patients leave in worst condition after leaving than when they were admitted. Check out complaints sent to the NYS Health Dept. If you're a patient have for your family and friend visit often. Also seek help from the NYS Ombudsman Program. Best recommendation is to choose another place.

The social workers at North Westchester are hacks! We have tried numerous times to have meetings, left many messages - both voice and hand written and no one gets back to us. Donna Martin has been USELESS! She hadn't even met with a patient and said they seemed fine. The lack of help leaves themselves open to potential law suits!
