Applied for a job , was told to there at 11am. Lol nothin contacted owner nothin. Called him one final time to tell him thanks for wasting my time, gas, and patience. Honestly if your starting out in IT, avoid this place at all costs they are just extremely unprofessional and they just seen not to care. It's pretty noticeable that this company has lost it's passion and self-respect.

They had my computer for 6 weeks and didn't even fix it. I don't just mean "did a bad job." My laptop came back in worse condition than when I gave it to them, with extra missing screws and parts put back without screwing them in. They also lost my charging cable for the laptop. Truly a terrible experience.

I wish I read the BEST BUY/ GEEK SQUAD reviews prior to dropping my computer off at the Geek Squad in Signal Hill, CA. A few things have happened that made this experience very unpleasant. I dropped my computer off to have a virus removed and before they even looked at it I had to purchase the 1 year service plan and a virus protection they slipped into my basket the cost was $201.67 for everything, I thought a little expensive but if they fix the computer okay it was worth it. Next day they contacted me saying my computer had a bad Hard drive( I knew that wasn’t true). and he was wondering if there was any thing on the HD I wanted them to recover for a small fee $87.these geeks are good at up selling anything but what you came for, also said my computer needed a recovery disk and asked if I had one. My reply was no. Then they said I need to get one on my own then bring the recovery disk back to the geek squad so they can install it. My response was “I’m paying you guys to fix my computer instead you break my hard drive shouldn’t you be getting the recovery disk and installing it?” The Geek Squad guy said “no it is your responsibility to get it we Don’t do that” feeling that the Geek wasn’t being truthful and I was being SCAMMED at this point. I took my computer back because for $201.67 I would expect better service. I then left with my computer and went to a computer repair company just down the street called MODERN COMPUTER SYSTEMS 2068 Willow St Signal Hill, CA 90755 for a second opinion. Boy was I surprised when Elizabeth told me there wasn’t anything wrong with my hard drive. I didn’t have to go out and purchase parts for the computer. She was able to remove the virus and install Windows 7 and had my computer running great and back to me the next day. My bill came to $85, less than the Geek Squad with NO hassle and way better customer service. The next day I returned to Geek Squad to get my money back, the Manager lady was extremely rude and would not give me a full refund, She felt that the geeks should be paid for a job/scam well done. She proposed a $130 refund. I said no a full refund because they had misdiagnosed my computer ( a bad hard drive don’t just fix it’s self) or simply tried to scam me for more money , she then just walked away and told the other geeks to walk as well. I still haven’t got my money back but I’m working on it. Sorry Geek Squad I will never use your service ever again nor will I refer anyone. Bottom line steer clear of best buy and Geek Squad.

Modern Computer does great and reasonably priced computer repair work. Took my 8 year old Viewsonic 19" monitor there Monday and they said the minimum charge would be $45 plus parts and that work would be done the next day. They called Tuesday to say work was done. When I arrived there they said they replaced 3 capacitors, but they did not charge for them! Holding a (low) quoted price is rare and appreciated. A bit cluttered (they must be busy!) but clean and organized. Had my own computer configure & repair business back in the '90s, so I do appreciate Modern Computers' business. No matter what the problem, some customers, having attempted repairs themselves, disagree with expert opinion as to the solution and are surprised that antiquated parts for antique systems are dear. Recommended.

Not to happy with Elizabeth. She is not a bad person but she did not properly diagnose my problem and made me pay for her mistakes. She only takes cash so charge backs where not an option. Its as if she might have gone through this before. I wanted my computer to drive 2 27" monitors at a very high resolution like 2560 x 1600. The card I brought in already drove my both monitors at 1920x1080. After waiting for about 4 days Elizabeth told me to come get my computer and that I was all set with the newer powerful card and charged me $70 labor and $69.50 for the new card. I brought the card home and I was running the exact same thing which was 1920x1080. I kept my cool because she now had collected $145.58 and nothing had been done. She told me she could fix it with a more expensive card. She installed that and finally did some research and said that my monitors might not be able to go beyond 1920x1080. This was the case and I wish that Elizabeth would have asked the right questions about my card and my computer vs charging me labor and basically giving me nothing. In the end she gave me a $50.58 store credit and I am still out the $145.58. A simple solution would be to charge me nothing or split the labor with me and give me cash but that didn't happen. I may be the one guy in Long Beach that had a bad experience here and at this point I would have preferred to bring this to the Geek Squad at Best Buy because they would just be straight about it and probably have charged me less.
