::I love this place. First time I went I was 18. Tweny six years ago. Still the same. Never changes. A real gem. Fancy and dangerous. Don't get it twisted.
Ross Harold
::La Carafe is a Houston classic in one of the oldest buildings! Cash only, limited selection of beer and wine. Antique cash register, carved bar, friendly bar tenders. I love it.

::Day 1 in Houston...bit tired, not really on the ball. Ended up here for a couple of beers. Barman got the hump after my paying for the 2nd round that i clearly didn't 'know how things work here' as had not left him any tips so far. I hadn't actually 'finished' at this point but then decided i had and so moved elsewhere. Miserable, rude and no 'southern hospitality' in this place - don't bother. 'US customer service' - yeah, right.

::Awesome place. One of the oldest buildings in Houston, and supposedly once a brothel, this haunted establishment has a great patio over looking the downtown scene.

::La Carafe is probably the oldest bar in Houston, and reminds me more of an east coast bar in the middle of the Market Square area. The drinks are well made, and the ambiance is fantastic. Do not forget that there is an upstairs that is occasionally open depending on the crowds. There is an awesome old jukebox with some older classic music that you do not hear very often. Great for a date night, and more fun that you can imagine. Defiantly cant wait to go back. Make sure to bring cash, as this place does not accept credit cards. They do have an ATM that charges the normal bar fee's for getting cash.
