  Make a reservation. This place was caught up in controversy after a racist review was published calling this white-owned restaurant the best Chinese restaurant in the city while disparaging Chinese and Chinese-American owned and operated Chinese restaurants that have been open and serving great food in this city for generations. Kings County Imperial didn't deserve to be caught in the middle of that nonsense, and nobody should let that color their judgment of the restaurant itself. The food here is excellent. We didn't have a bad dish all night. The noodles, the pork belly, the soup dumplings, the pan-seared long dumplings, the dry fried long beans (!!!), the spring rolls, the mapo dofu...everything was incredibly delicious, with complex, exciting flavor combinations. We had a wonderful and helpful server, prompt service all night long, and just an overall excellent dinner. The chairs are incredibly uncomfortable, so don't plan on sticking around too long. They're "eat and GTFO" chairs. Would be nice if they invested in more comfortable chairs, but they probably won't because they are trying to turn tables. I will also echo that the cocktails are comparatively weak. My julep was mostly club soda. Decent wines available though! Seriously excellent food and service. Go.

  Usually a wait to get in but trust me it is worth it! The hot and sour soup as well as the dry fried green beans are my go-to apps, and the beef with Chinese broccoli is always good. They always have really great specials so I recommend trying them. The dumplings are great as well and you can't go wrong with the noodles. Great for a date night!

  Spicy dan dan noodles will blow your mind! I'm lucky this place delivers, it's some of the best noodles around.

  I can not believe that it took me so long to come here! Staff is great, good is fantastic. I can't get the mock-eel out of my mind! I not even a vegetarian., but hope to be back next week to try some more dishes. The Brussels rocked too!

  I have a new favorite Chinese restaurant and it’s called Kings County Imperial. Everything was delicious. Hands down the best hot and sour soup I’ve ever tried. Normally after I eat Chinese food I feel hungover. Not after Kings Imperial. The green beans are a must every time. Their dumplings are out of this world too. My favorite are the ribs, the duck and the ants climbing on a tree. Make a reservation in advance as this place books up quickly. Sometimes I’ll arrive without a reservation, put my name down, then go to Union Pool for some drinks until they call me. This 5 star rating is a no brainer.
