As much as I hate going to the dentist, Family Smiles helps me with friendly and helpful staff. The technicians always encourage and the dentists have a great chairside manner to help allay my fears. Can’t get much better than that so I keep up to date with checkups and care. Did you know they are part of a county discount program? Ask for details if you don’t have dental insurance.

At best mediocre. I actually switched dentists because I couldn't stand the attitude of the receptionist. She seems to think she's more important than anyone else. Given that everyone has to interact with the front desk regularly, it's important to have good people there. Unfortunately, this place doesn't. I also never saw the same hygienist. The first one I had here was great but she was "borrowed" from another office. After that I can't say I remember much about them other than one making some unnecessary and unwelcome comment on my last visit. As with most places, you only see the dentist for like 5 minutes. He seemed fine, but I'm not going to go through the rest of the frustrating staff to get five minutes with a regular dentist.

I read the reviews here prior to my appointment and I have had such bad experiences that I feel I would be remiss to not post my own review. I would not take my dog to this so called dentist and that is the truth. The staff is disorganized at best and downright stupid at worst. The office is in a bad neighborhood and is run down and dirty. They were playing music very loud (and not classical music, the radio) and the rooms were dirty. I had an injury from an accident and had broken teeth. This "dentist" wanted me to wait a MONTH for him to do anything - ANYTHING. And in the meantime I was supposed to suffer. He said he wasn't allowed to even prescribe pain medication (makes me wonder what they did as how is a doctor "not allowed" to prescribe medication? And Instead he gave me antibiotics (for broken teeth due to an accident not from rotting and breaking or something that was infected) and Motrin and wanted me to come back in a month. I went to my doctor who thought this was ABSURD and agreed that this practice must have done something really bad to not be allowed to prescribe medication. My doctor prescribed me different medication and told me to throw the antibiotics in the garbage and sent me to an oral surgeon who is not in the ghetto and has all of his rights to practice medicine in tact. My advice is to steer clear of this place unless you are looking to make a bad situation worse and if you have an injury or pain that could require medication other than antibiotics go elsewhere.

I've been visiting this office since moving back to the Hudson Valley in 2003 and couldn't be a happier client. The staff are friendly and helpful, the dentists (especially Dr. Gatchalian and Rama) dental hygienists (Michelle and Andrea) are EXTREMELY skilled, patient and knowledgeable. The front office staff (Heather and Lita) are always helpful and do their best to get you appointments that work with your schedule. They don't push any unnecessary procedures, and do all possible to minimize discomfort. Their efforts take going to a dentist from being a dreaded action, to being a comforting experience. If you can go here - you really should, you won't regret it.

My husband and I have been going to this dental practice for many, many years. I have been a patient since they bought the practice from my former dentist. They are kind and caring. I always ask for the dental hygienist, Michelle. She's the best and very concerned and caring! All of the dentists on Davis Avenue are terrific! The front staff is friendly and very helpful!
