Phenomenal environment, very friendly staff, and great tasting food. It's not an extensive menu, but clearly it's because they take their time to make everything delicious. The building is partly outfitted with a couple small shops and at gallery. This will become the new go-to on my annual Memphis trip!

Short answer: Food is fine, not good for work. I have been to Edge Alley several times. The coffee and food are fine. The menu is limited, you order at the counter, and the seating is not great for a meal with other people, more of a coffee shop atmosphere. This last time, I went in for a working lunch with a colleague but as soon as we walked in we were told that no laptops were allowed. If we wanted to use them we had to go to the picnic tables in the party room behind the brewery next door which didn’t quite work for us. It seems they haven’t quite figured out where they sit between a coffee shop and a restaurant.

I ate there yesterday with my girlfriends for brunch and had no idea we were in for a treat. We all shared the chicken biscuit, steak and eggs, and shrimp and grits. All phenomenal dishes, but the shrimp and grits were the best I've ever had in Memphis. I highly recommend this place. I saw the negative reviews regarding getting kicked out for the length of stay. We were there for 1.5 hr and no one said anything to us. Everyone was friendly. What a great addition to Memphis breakfast eateries! Make the time and make the drive!

Edge Alley is a beautiful space with decent (if overpriced) coffee and food, but I will not be going back due to the terrible service. I spent an afternoon there studying at a small table meant for two people, and after spending almost $20 on coffee and food I was asked to move to the wall if I wanted to continue studying. The restaurant was nearly empty at the time with plenty of open seating for any customers who came in, and when I asked the owner if I could stay in my seat since I bought dinner and there was plenty of room for other people, he came up with a list of random excuses including "we don't want laptops on the table... you're taking up 2 chairs... you're taking up intimate seating for a couple who may want to sit there...". Considering that Edge Alley is less than half a mile from multiple universities, you would expect the owner to be more welcoming to students who would certainly be repeat customers if it weren't for the unnecessary rudeness and poor customer service. Instead, I walked right next door to High Cotton Brewery where I bought a $3 beer and continued studying for 2 more hours. They were nothing but kind to me, and I will definitely be going back to the brewery soon!!

I was looking for a place to relax, enjoy coffee, and work, but this is NOT THE PLACE. Honestly, the manager was kind of a jerk about it too. Plain and simple. It’s also worth noting that the prices are a little high for what they give you. My one positive is that the food is pretty good. However, you will still get kicked out if you do so much as put a book on the table and they’ll call you out publicly. My review will improve once they can figure out what vibe they’re going for. In short: come here to enjoy pretty good, but overpriced food, but god have mercy on your soul should you bring a book.
