  This Duane Reade has excellent customer service; they always order my prescription for me in advance.

  Not my main pharmacy but it used to be a pleasure to go into. The pharmacy staff themselves we're extremely pleasant. Last week I tried to fill a prescription there and the pharmacist refused to honor the prescription. I know that a pharmacist has the right to do so however they did not even ask to call my doctor to verify the prescription. The assistant manager of the store, are young boy named Eric Schutzman was extraordinarily rude, unprofessional, and totally uncaring. All he could say to any question I asked him was "we don't have it." He never bothered to go further and explain to me why the pharmacy did not want to fill the prescription. In addition his attitude show a total lack of any kind of care towards the customer. I later found out that Duane Reade/ Walgreens has had a lot of legal trouble with these kind of prescriptions and that a good deal of their inventory of controlled substances has been disappearing from within the company. In other words Duane Reade employees are stealing pain medication for their own use or to sell illicitly. The United States Drug Enforcement Administration has already fined Duane Reade over 30 million dollars due to missing controlled substances. While I completely understand the pharmacy's concern over getting into more trouble by dispensing certain drugs even for legitimate prescriptions, there can never be an excuse for an assistant manager to be as rude, curt and unprofessional as this assistant manager was. He should be fired immediately, and I most certainly will never use this particular Duane Reade for anything whatsoever. Try Junction Pharmacy around the corner or go to J Drugs on Avenue J and East 12th Street. You will be treated like royalty. Those two pharmacies care about their patients while Duane Reade obviously does not.

  Awesome customer service at this Dr and pharmacy is great too. Managers are very helpful.
