::I was a patient here and experienced a lot of the same things other people did who posted here. I could say a lot about this hospital but I don't think it would really matter coming from someone who has mental illness. The only good thing I will say is that some of the nurses here were nice to me. Instead of saying all the bad things that happened to me here as a mentally ill person, I will just mention something else. It is really interesting there are no responses to any of the reviews of this hospital by this hospital. That pretty much says it all.

::This hospital is abusive and uncaring. Dr. Pratty is a horrible psychiatrist and human who should lose his license. He should not be treating children. My sibling was admitted to College Hospital with him as their psychiatrist, and he immediately put them on a cornucopia of medications BEFORE EVER SEEING THEIR MEDICAL RECORDS. They could’ve had a medical condition that was wildly contraindicated with the medications he prescribed, and in fact they were on medications that had horrible interactions with some of the medications he prescribed. He insisted that they were bipolar, and prescribed them antipsychotics, despite the fact that they have NEVER displayed any symptoms or signs of bipolar disorder and no psychiatrist has ever even suggested it before. They were initially placed on a three-day hold at the hospital, but it was quickly extended to fourteen more days, which I am certain Dr. Pratty had a hand in. My mother called Dr. Pratty with questions regarding the medication he was prescribing my sibling, and he was extremely condescending to her. He dodged her questions and patronized her, and when she mentioned that her sister was a psychiatrist and she had consulted with her, he almost immediately hung up without answering her concerns. It has been over a week now and he has yet to call her back. Do NOT put your child in Dr. Pratty’s care. He should not be allowed to practice medicine AT ALL. My sibling was isolated for days after they were admitted on a “special program”; they were forced to eat in the hallway alone outside of the cafeteria, were not allowed to interact with other patients in there, and were not allowed outside. They were treated like they were violent and dangerous, even though they’ve never hurt anyone other than themselves. They were given an 80 page packet they had to complete before they could be allowed to eat in the cafeteria, go outside, etc., but they had no way to complete it as they were not allowed to use a pencil without supervision and no one was ever available to supervise them. They have accommodations for a learning disability, and the hospital claimed that they would accommodate, but days went by without any change happening. They only had their disability accommodated once we spoke to a nurse who sympathized as she had also had an IEP. Someone lied to our insurance company about my sibling’s state, as an excuse to keep them there longer - the insurance told us that someone had reported that they were not doing basic living tasks, despite the fact that they were, for the first time in months, doing these tasks. It is extremely hard to get in contact with anyone in a position of authority to make any changes. People just ignore you. If you have ANY say in it whatsoever, DO NOT GO HERE.

::It’s incredibly disheartening to know that so many individuals are having such horrible experiences with this hospital. Being admitted nearly 14 years ago, I remember feeling isolated and locked away from the world, not receiving the necessary treatment I needed in order to recover. It wasn’t until after leaving in which I was able to get the help I needed. It’s so sad to know that things haven’t changed. I hope for some sort of reform in the program as it is instrumental to betterment of today’s youth.

::Violated HIPPA left and right. Unhelpful and rude nurses, that make you feel like you are nothing more than your diagnosis. One nurse in particular was bad, Kim in unit 1N. She would get mad at patients for delusions they could not help and even make them worse. The shining star was a CNA named Esmeralda. She was always kind and patient and made me feel safe during her shift. DO NOT GO HERE!

::I was there a week ago.. This the worst hospital I been to and I have been to other five ph hospitals before. The staff is TERRIBLE they mentally and verbally abuse you one staff member even put his hands on me because I wouldn't go to my room. The staff treats you like animals always screaming and making fun of you. They make you stay in your rooms for hours, they won't let you stand and talk outside the room or else they send to your room. There is no outside breaks and there is no break room to watch TV because it was usually locked. There is only 1 phone and you have get in a list to use it for only 5 minutes. The staff was just terrible, very unprofessional and very disrespectful. They all should get fired . Oh one thing, the air condition doesn't work and I was there September when is super hot. The building is really old and falling apart. College hospital should be shut down and torn down. I still have nightmares about this place.
