Great German Food owned and operated by a German Chef and American spouse. Upscale food but with friendly, home style environment. Great attentive staff and open for Lunch, Brunch and Dinner. Find famous Capital Hill governments, DC tourists, and regulars often.

Very good food and HUGE beers for a good price. They have several holiday options as well. Reservations not needed but also not a bad idea. The options for dessert are also great. The authenticity is not found anywhere else. Good wait staff.

Exceptional food, especially for a neighborhood where drinking is more prominent in the establishment. The portions and prices are also well above par. And, there are several authentic menu items unique to the place. I recommend the Sauerkraut balls for starters. The only disappointment was that service was slow -- but friendly. We got the impression that several of the team were new. We had a great time, so the delays were inconsequential, but don't plan for anything fast.

Had a great Christmas dinner with family. Food was delicious and three of us had leftovers there was so much! Excellent price. Nice beer list and server took the time to explain the seasonal drafts. Server told us they all work as a team so feel free to speak to anyone for service which we did so there wasn't a problem in that regard. We will be back!

This is a quaint little place in a good location near the Library of Congress. I can't profess to be an expert on German cuisine, but I'd like to think I can tell when something is made fresh versus from a can or is made using shortcuts. My girlfriend and I decided to just do appetizers as we had an important dinner later that day. We ordered the mac and cheese, schnitzel, soup, potato dumpling, and potato pancakes. My favorite was the potato dumpling. Interestingly it had the texture of sticky rice but in potato form and was served in a pool of beef gravy. The gravy was very potent and tasted like stock broth from a jar, but very good! The pancakes were also good and are basically hash browns (luckily I like hash browns) and served with apple sauce and a pumpkin butter. Never had that combination before but it was extremely tasty. The other two either lacked flavor (mac and cheese) or were too damn good to be legally sold. But again I could taste the shortcuts and enough of them made me feel a little disappointed.
