::Great station in a great location in Boston. Close to several places. Several Amtrak trains stop here and several MBTA commuter rail lines. You can connect to the orange line and a few busses. There is some seating at the station. The place could be cleaner.

::Station is sufficient for traveling and catching a train, but lacks in anything else like modern comforts.

::Three used to be ticket counters for both Amtrak and Commuter rail. Now Amtrak has closed their counter so you can't purchase a physical ticket for Amtrak here. Only commuter rail physical ticket can be purchased here. Orange line connects directly to Copley Square mall and there is no need to cross the road now. So you can go to Prudential center all covered. Track 1,2,3 and track 5,7 are on opposite side of orange line station

::Took the train from NYC to Boston as part of a business trip. This was my first time on Amtrak and it was great! Purchasing a ticket and boarding the train was very simple. The price was reasonable for the length of the journey. There were plenty of spacious seats available, I plugged in to charge my devices and had plenty of room to take care of work on my laptop. A beautiful journey from NYC, through southern CT and Rhode Island up into Massachusetts. Very good experience!

::On our first trip to Boston via Amtrak from DC, my wife and decided to exit at Back Bay Station so that we could take the Orange Line to North Station without changing subway lines and then take the Lowell Line from North Station to Woburn/Anderson Station. Because of the time saved on the Orange Line, we made up the time that we had lost on the Amtrak that was running about 40 min late. We were also able to buy Charlie Tickets at Back Bay and Commuter Rail Tickets at North Station. People recognized that we were sort of "lost" and gave us help. All big city rail stations offer challenges. However, we had a great experience at Back Bay and would highly recommend it to out-of-town travelers.
