  Very good experience. We arrived without reserving car. Site customer representative provide excellent service, very efficient, too. Car very well kept. Fairly easy to drive in to car return; the return employee with an East Coast accent was not very friendly nor personable although they were busy, and he did provide clear helpful directions out to my next ride.

  How do you review a car rental agency when you have zero interaction with them outside of the drop off process? As a President's Club member They always upgrade me to a fabulous and VERY new car. I am always pleased with the quality of selection and love the fact that now you can choose a different car if you want to. The customer service when needed is quick to help with issues and I love the perks of earning free rental days. It is easy to get in and out of the rental building, efficient, and there is a gas station near the airport return complex that must RAKE it in even though their fuel is competitively priced. Overall I use Avis for my status with them, the ease of rental and return and the quality of their cars.

  This place is a hassle and a half. The location is off off airport and you need to plan for a 15 minute bus ride assuming no delays. Once you get to the facility it’s another hike to get to the car. During busy times they are woefully understaffed. A line of 15-20 cars waiting to get out and no cars assigned for dozens of people that have reservations. That said the staff is friendly and the cars are what you would expect. I often rent from the Tempe location - take an Uber there. It’s fast than the shuttle bus and way cheaper than renting a the airport.

  We rented a car from AVIS this past week for one day to sight see around Phoenix. The price was decent @ less than $45/day including liability insurance. The gentleman we worked with to rent it was very friendly, but that's where the good part ends! We rented it for one day but we realized we would be a little late bringing it back so we called in and let them know, and understood we would be charged for 2 days. We arrived at the airport 26 hours after renting it (a full 22 hours before the new "due time". In my haste I forgot to fill up the tank, no problem right, I still had 22 hours left to do so. I go to try and fill up the tank, and they said I couldn't take it back out, that it had been "returned", and then the charged me $99 for a "fueling service" on a vehicle that takes maybe $20-$30 in gas to fill up. I have no problem with paying for that service under normal circumstances as it's my fault for bringing it empty, but we literally had 22 hours left on our rental agreement, and they wouldn't let me take it back out to fill up. The guy behind the desk after I questioned the $99 said it was "Deterrent" to bring it back empty. It's a deterrent alright. A deterrent to doing business with Avis again in the future. Total rental for 26 hours ended up being $229 after taxes for something that should have been 90+tax tops. Needless to say I will not rent from Avis going forward.

  Quick service and car I wanted was ready. As an Avis member I just walked in and got in my car, only showed id to get out of lot. Return was easy and quick. At Phoenix though you need to allow another 15-20 to get from any car rental back to the terminal on the shuttle bus.
