I first ate at Alfalfa's in 1973 when I was a UK grad student. Fell deeply in love with the place and it's food. I can't count how many times over the years I've eaten some of my favorite food there, sometimes waiting in live for an hour to get in. Even after the move to downtown the food continued to be spot on good. It had been a while since we'd ventured downtown to eat. We went today for lunch. My husband's sandwich (turkey/bacon/cheese) bread was burnt and he claims fairly tasteless. I got my all time favorite, Hoppin' John, and sadly it was just OK. I'm nostalgic for the shaved cheddar and big hunks of green pepper and onion instead of a bland plate of brown rice. And the "cabbage salad" was strangely white - no green. The miso dressing at least was as I remembered. Whoever is making this food didn't put an ounce of love in it. Don't think we'll venture there again.

Went to Alfalfa yesterday afternoon for the first time. I tried the jackfruit tacos, which were flavorful but soggy by the time I got them. Service was mediocre at best. The server was pretty inattentive to our needs and was only half-heartedly nice, not at all genuine. She breezed by while asking if we were okay, seemingly just to say something after neglecting us. The acting hostess/manager woman was downright rude as she seated us and literally stared while we ate. So uncomfortable. Seriously, what was her deal? Extremely disappointing.

Just devoured their jackfruit tacos. Hands down the best tacos I have ever had. The balance in flavors is art. Thank guys for giving such an amazing vegan option! Keep up the wonderful work!

Great place with a great atmosphere. Food was delicious and serving size was adequate. All the staff are super nice and food came out fast. I got the Alfa burger with an egg and bacon, my wife got black bean burgers on lettuce (no bun). Flavor was good, and with their in-house sauce, everything tasted fantastic.
