  Western Star Park is a great family park at the base of South Mountain in Ahwatukee on 44th Street and Western Star just north of Elliot. It's a great place to bring the family. They have a large grassy area to play games and to walk the dogs. They also have a children's play area with nice sturdy modern equipment. The thing I like about this park is that it has a bathroom. It also has grills, a basketball court, many many picnic tables, a baseball area, a volleyball court, a tennis court and a lots of park benches under the shady trees. The city just planted 20 more trees in this park. It's usually pretty clean but today it seems like there's a lot of trash cans turned over which could mean that there were javelinas in the park.. yes. If you come in the evening you will see a few coyotes lingering since it's at the base of South Mountain and maybe in the middle of the night the javelinas come to snack. It's in a great neighborhood though. It is very safe and secure although I have seen a few druggys hanging out once in a great while. It's a great community place. I've lived here 24 years and I come to the park every day to walk my dogs. I feel very lucky to have this park just a block from my house. Today a group of soccer players have set up camp and earlier I saw some cricket ball players practicing. It's also home to other little league teams playing different sports. Rick Metzner is the hardest working employee the city of Phoenix has. His mission was to keep the card green. He had to really do some investigating as to why the sprinklers weren't working and he found out that the valve line was cut by pranksters. This guy is out here sweating and toiling everyday. The City of Phoenix got a fantastic employee to keep this park pristine. Come visit and take advantage of a great city park.

  Western Star Park has a good location away from main road 48th, The park has a good parking area with handicap space. It is well signed and visible from the road. It has a big amenity area with a variety of displays for children to play. Well covered from the sun. Additionally there are tennis court areas, basketball and football green areas. Benches surround the park and cement walk ways permit kids to ride their bycicles, scooters, etc. The public bathrooms are close by and appear clean and easily accesible. Overall the park is clean and well kept, I noticed service people driving and surveilling the area and as well picking up the garbage containers. Many families and kids of different ages and racial groups enjoyed the facilities. My grandchild enjoyed playing and making friends.

  Generally great place to take your kids, would give it 5 stars if they could clear out the drug addicts and dealers.

  It's a nice park with a paved loop around it for walking or bicycling. Multiple picnic areas , tennis courts, basketball court, nice playground and large shade trees in a big grassy area.

  Fun and clean, clean public rest rooms. Kids had an absolute blast here. Can't remember if grills are already there or if my friends brought their own.
