It's a speakeasy with yelp reviews. Gotta access through the alley, inside there's a charming little dimly lit bar with some creative craft cocktails. Prices were just a bit high for Minnesota around 15/ drink (and the drinks were quite small) but really everything else about the place was great.

Volstead’s transports you to a different time. There aren’t many places that can say even finding the entrance door is an adventure. Once you descend the stairs you enter the roaring 20’s, but you don’t feel like you need to dress in costume to be there. Every nook and cranny seems to hold a fun surprise. Decor aside, the drinks are super strong and the food is delicious. I’m partial to the charcuterie plate. I’ve been there many times and have never regretted the experience.

The last two visits to Volsteads the staff were not warm or friendly. Went this evening at 5:15pm. We were pretty much the only people there, so we’re hoping for a great experience but felt dissatisfied and disappointed. :( Drinks were decent. It was the service that was a let down. No interaction from the bartender. Wasn’t familiar with a common drink we were hoping for, and he had no interest in looking it up or interacting with us. Door guy was welcoming. Thanks.

Volstead's is a great place for a date night. The service is phenomenal. We simply told our server what kind of drinks we generally like, and he told us he would take care of us, and he did! The drinks are great, and the ambiance stays true to the speakeasy vibe. We will definitely be back.

This place has atmosphere and attitude in spades. If you either stumble into this place or reserve your own table, you are in for a treat. I was surprised to see that they served a fairly good sized menu, wandered by people with good looking food on their plates. Cocktails were creative and well crafted. We each found something that suited our tastes, and the server was generous with recommendations. I'd like to go back when they have live music playing, I bet it would be a good place to hear some live music.
