Very nice setting and the food was excellent. Kitchen was very slow (40 mins for first course to come out) but we were in no rush and our server Blake was great and gave us a comp glass of wine for our patience. Once the meal did arrive, it was worth the wait. Highly recommend reservation as there wasn’t an empty table in the spot.

Disappointed to see the recent negative reviews. We have had some fantastic pasta meals here. The last visit was during renovations and the service and food were excellent. Will return to see for ourselves.

Higher Prices, lower quality. To say that I was disappointed in my meal that I had last night is an understatement. My wife and I have loved this restaurant since we first tried it 4 years ago based off the recommendation of friend. We loved it to the point that we refused to go to any other restaurant in the north end because the food was that good every time. We would bring our friends anytime we had a chance to make them experience it. We waited patiently for the restaurant to reopen following their renovation and last night we finally got to go back for the first time. We brought a party of six and I raved about how exceptional the food was and that this was going to be the best Italian food that they ever had. I always order the same meal when I go there, veal parmigiana, and it has always been the best veal parm that I have ever had, so last night was no different. When the plate was brought to my table I instantly noticed that something was not right about it and it was confirmed when I tried it. They had clearly changed their sauce, their portion size, and the overall quality of the food. It was not the meal I had remembered, and furthermore our entire party was dissatisfied with their meals. I am sad to say that I will not be returning to Monica's. I would however like to say that this review was is in no way a reflection of our waitress that we had last night. She was attentive and polite and earned her 20% gratuity.

So I can see from the other reviews that my experience isn't the norm but I can only speak for myself. My coworker and I took out some customers for dinner. The food itself was great the problem was the waiter. There were 8 of us, dinner was over and we wanted another bottle of wine (making it the fifth bottle of mid to high priced wine we ordered these customers signed a huge contract) and the waiter told us we had to pay the check. My coworker asked why he said we where there too long... I was speechless. My coworker asked to speak to the manager and he said no you have to leave. So we pay the check and leave, we are outside talking about how weird and rude he was and he comes out and apologizes to us and asked for us not to contact the manager and starts yelling at us and our customers. This place left a bad taste in my mouth and it wasn't the food. Can't remember the waiters name. Might give this place another chance cause like I said the food was good but the waiter ruined the entire evening.

We were looking for something authentic Italian. The food was good but expensive, and we thought the menu misrepresented what we got. The salad with pears and walnuts had two very thin slices of pear and about three pieces of walnut. I thought I was getting linguine with diced tomatoes, spinach and light olive oil sauce, but I got a tomato sauce over pasta - very ordinary. The best food was the pizza we ordered for our grandson. It was very light and he actually liked it. We were disappointed in the atmosphere too because it wasn't classic Italian, and this was modern bistro-looking and even the music was wrong. In fact, it was some kind of pumping techno that was not relaxing like we'd prefer. Give us some Sinatra or Dean Martin please. The best thing about the restaurant was the sweet friendly hostess who saw us outside looking at the menu and invited us in, plus was very accommodating, even refilling the water bottle we brought in which was much appreciated in such hot weather.
