::on may 17@12;40 i boarded the blue line to hillsboro not knowing the local system here as i came from seattle just 2 days prior. This over-zelous cop targeted me simply because i looked homeless and did not my validate ticket. i showed him my trimet honored citzen card along with the fare ticket and washington state i.d i explained to the officer i was not aware of that as i,m not from here and was on a time crunch. rather than tell me to get off and valiate my fare he wrote me a 175.00 ticket for no other reason than to target what he percieved to be a black homeless person.several passengers even comented as to why he didnt take that into consideration is this the way portland treats its visitors????? i will be sure to fight this and pass along to other washingtonians to be leary of using the tri-met system here because if you look a certain way you will be targeted.
