Soooo...I'm a coffee snob with the best of them. But I asked for a sixteen once vanilla latte. "We don't use flavors here and the largest size is 12 Oz". I guess that's your prerogative as a coffee shop. But it felt very condescending. I'm not a Starbucks fan. I love little independent coffee shops. But I have my go to. I'm willing to try your special coffee but tell me how cool it is instead of looking at me like a heathen

Great coffee shop! I used to come here every week when Steve was doing trivia. I hope they bring back custom trivia again, the chain trivia people just aren't as good. They know how to make a good drink here too.

Fast service and delicious coffee is what you can expect when you come to Great Lakes Coffee. I stopped in there for an interview with a magazine editor and had a very enjoyable time. Great Lakes Coffee is a nice quiet atmosphere, even though the place was packed. The seats and stools are comfortable which let you enjoy your coffee even more. They have your standard fare coffee or espresso or latte and they also have some more specialized items to make a very unique experience. Not only do they have coffee but they also have sandwiches and other food items.

Visited this coffee shop the last time I was in town, and made sure to stop back by. Got a lavender latte and it was super good. The wait was a little long, but the staff was super friendly so I did not mind. The place was busy- from students doing work on their laptops to groups of friends catching up with one another. I was reading a book from class, and I enjoyed how open and cozy this place was. Would definitely come back. It's a super cute place.

Great Lakes Coffee has probably earned itself the name of one of Detroit’s defining coffee shops. It certainly has opened the door for many people to start exploring Detroit’s coffee scene. Their espresso drinks and art is some of the best in the city, and I recommend going there just for that. They tend to stock a good selection of coffees for pour-overs but they tend to lean toward medium and light roasts. Their unique selling point is the beer, wine, and liquor offerings in the afternoon and beyond. This makes them a coffee shop where you can meet up anytime you want, whether it be for conversation or work. They have a wonderful selection of drinks and make it easy for anyone to find something they like. You’ll find yourself diligently working or enjoying good conversation if you go. It does tend to be busy, so expect during busy points of the day to wait for a seat or to have to hunt for one.
