    Terrible Experience with CA Tax Franchise ! Help- just kidding. Last week I received a letter from ca tax franchise saying I owed $180 in taxes from year 2007 in my maiden name Jessica Macqueen. Since 2007, there were fees and collection penalties added to the $180. the total amounted to nearly $600. I asked tax franchise several years ago if I was supposed to pay this bill because I didnt think I owed this. They put my name on a collection notice so I paid the $600 and Im now hoping that this is a last payment of sorts. I only made about $5000 to $6000 the year of 2007, so that is how I know I didnt owe taxes. If anything, I was supposed to receive a return at the end of the year. I've been low income each year and recieved a return, not owed so Im still wondering why I had to pay a $180 tax bill from year 2007. I think tax franchise takes advantage of single women. I hope Im not unfairly billed again in future years.
