I hired SEKA after reading all of their great reviews online for my move at the end of March. I contacted them through Yelp initially, and received a quick response back with a great rate. I went ahead and booked, since I needed the move on the 31st and it was already the 22nd. I was moving a short distance in Brooklyn (Crown Heights to Prospect Lefferts Garden) and only moving out of a tiny studio, so I knew I wouldn't need their full three-hour minimum. They also only offer a three-man crew, which seemed a little excessive, but again, I assume they know what they're talking about. The only time slot they had available was a start between 3-5pm, which wasn't ideal but I figured, hey, as long as I'm out by early evening it shouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately it quickly became an issue - I was told that the driver would text with an ETA on the day of the move, but by 1:30pm I still hadn't heard anything. I sent an email to the boss, Sam, asking for an update and was just told that my time slot was from 3-5pm and I would be sent an ETA then. He also asked what the latest I could do would be, and I let him know that 5pm was the absolute latest I could start (as I had cleaning people already there trying to prep the apartment for the next tenant). Cut to 3:30pm, when I finally receive a text from the driver, Ali, giving his ETA as 5pm. Annoying, but technically within the window, so okay. I then heard nothing at all until I finally called him at 4:55pm (and sent a text) to which he told me he was stuck in traffic and was 10 minutes away. He then kept sending me photos of the traffic and his map location (which I don't care about - I care about you getting me to where I need to be on time!) and telling me that he was coming from the Bronx. Not sure why him coming from the Bronx affects my moving time - whoever is doing their scheduling needs some serious help. He finally rolled in around 5:30pm, and after taking forever to park, managed to get everything out of my apartment and packed up into the truck. I told his assistants, Eddie and Mario, about one specific bag that had fragile items in it, including my grandmother's antique mirror, and was told that it would be treated with care. After heading over to my new place, it took them a bit longer to bring everything in (I guess only so much will fit in an elevator) but we were still done by 7:30pm. One of the guys was lounging around on my furniture while I was filling out the paperwork (which seemed pretty rude to me - it's fine to sit down, but maybe ask first?) and then they asked to take a photo of me (I can't think of a single person that wants to get photographed when they've just finished moving). They did give me a small discount for being late, which I appreciated - though I would definitely have preferred they arrive on time and I pay full price. They take payment by taking a photo of your credit card, which isn't super secure - at least invest in a Square chip reader or something? The absolute worst part? I received a text from Ali at 9pm that night asking me to write him a good review - this was right as I discovered that the antique mirror in my fragile item bag was broken. The last thing I wanted to do at the end of a long stressful moving day was write a review for my movers - especially since I didn't even have internet yet. I guess if you're able to get the first time slot of the day, and if you don't have anything you're worried about getting broken, this is a good option - but overall I was disappointed. I've moved a lot in NYC and have had great and terrible experiences. While this doesn't rank as terrible, I won't use SEKA again.

I am SO glad I hired SEKA for my move. Their rates are very competitive and they didn’t give me any grief about the lack of elevator in my old building. The movers were as quick as they could be and were careful with the items. They’re are great about communicating through email and by phone. Thank you guys for making it painless!

Prior to obtaining Seka’s contact information from a friend/colleague of mine, I struggled with making a decision. I felt at ease when speaking with Sam, Seka’s company owner, who was very professional and timely in providing me with a quote. Extremely attentive to my needs, the quote he provided included all expenses which was a good fit. The movers arrived on time and the move went very well. I had forgotten to include some items in the list I was provided a quote for, and Sam did not hesitate to have them moved at no additional cost to me. I consider myself to have high standards for good service, and Seka’s moving services surpassed my expectations. I could not be more satisfied with the experience and would highly recommend them to anyone.

It was a big headache for me when I was moving from Brooklyn to Queens. As after searching a lot and calling many companies, I found this company very respectful and responsive. I hired them, they were great and took care of my stuff very well. Great company! I had 2 guys Sasha and Valera and one truck. Both the guys were fast and efficient. Most of all careful with all my stuff. Highly recommend Seka movers.

Can’t say enough about these guys. Great service, quick response. Sam was great in arranging a pick up at my friends house who wanted to get rid of some furniture to do her floors. It needed to be done quick and he was great at arranging it for the next day. They wrapped the furniture professionally and kept me informed throughout the process while I was at work. I was at ease with these guys they even sent me a picture after they wrapped the picture. I was highly impressed how they handled everything. Most importantly they delivered in a timely fashion to my co-op building which has strict time constraints. Also the furniture was heavier than what I anticipated so I really appreciate the professionalism and the way Sam and his crew handled the furniture. Thanks again.
