The permanent collection is not what I had hoped for a big city or even a medium-sized city, but the visiting exhibits can be five stars. However, they cost an additional fee. Thus my three star rating. I hope the city can attract more great art! Paul Allen are you listening? :-)

Nice collection of art and sculpture with a really fun gift shop! Just a few blocks from the ferry and easy to walk to. Free on the first Thursday of the month but every other day there is an admission fee. Some special exhibits cost extra as well. Friendly staff and a very nice cafe too! Definitely stop by and spend a couple of hours here!

They didn't allow bags larger than a purse and I had to check even a small camera bag. Coat and bag check was free but it was a minor inconvenience. Only one exhibit was under renovation. The rest of the exhibits were amazing. The place is large and is divided into several sections. The museum has elevators and escalators to facilitate getting around. There is a parking garage that is directly connected to the museum and is just an elevator ride to the entrance. Definitely need several hours to appreciate the whole museum

Great museum. Huge! There's a lot of unique things to see. We came here on free first Thursday. You have to go to the ticket counter and get a ticket even if it's free. It was a little crowded. Time flies when you're in here. We spent around 3 hours in the museum. And that's without seeing the special exhibits. Restrooms were clean. There are water fountains near the restrooms if you get thirsty - I believe drinks are not allowed.

SAM is a unique and diverse are space that holds long standing and new exhibitions from native American, a room full of beautiful old ceramics, post modern, pop culture and the very now. It has a great shop and cafe restaurant. If you are visiting Seattle this space and other close by galleries are well worth a visit. I am Steven from UK, I lived in Edinburgh for 15 years before moving to Seattle. I have lived across the world and love art and design. I also li e the art of emotional intelligence. Steven
