  I'm not a huge fan of ice cream. But this place has me going crazy. Every time we're in Portland I'm constantly asking my girlfriend if we can go there for dessert. It may be a little more expensive, but you're going to be paying the same at name brand ice cream shops. But Salt and Straw is the best. They also have seasonal flavors, so go check them out on their website.

  Awesome customer service. Staff were willing to go above and beyond to assist me in picking a flavor at my first visit. It was so hard to choose because everything was so good. But I settled on their famous lavender honey. Ate my amazing ice cream and walked the district with family. I also liked the fact that they offered some of the ice cream ingredients for sale in the store. I am not a big ice cream person, so thank you!

  This is a big hit in the area so don't be surprised if there is a line. You can sample a lot of the flavors before choosing and they have seasonal specials. Had the rhubarb and chocolate brownie flavors. You can split a single scoop without an extra cost. Was super delicious and do recommend trying it out.

  Waiting in line on nice summer's eve is exactly why Salt and Straw is an alluring experience. The Ice cream, sure it's fine. But when you've spent the last 20 minutes investing in waiting to get the thing, then you have that payoff of ice cream, the release of tension from anticipating deliciousness. It's a social experience, you'll see much less of people alone in line. No, you see groups of friends, first dates and families engaging among themselves, meshing a bit around them. It's a fantastic business model - Pump the scent of waffle cones on the streets, right in front of the building, and then train the staff to offer as much generosity as they can muster. For me, ice cream is secondary to the experience.

  Crazy concoctions of the most amazing homemade ice cream and sometimes weird sounding mix ins. But my goodness they are all so delicious. They have their normal unchanging year round flavors and the others change with the seasons and months. You can try any and all flavors you want to before you buy. They have a long line sometimes, but I promise you it's worth it! Bring your appetite! You will not be disappointed.
