They are okay for a downtown bar but their happy hour drink variety is very limited and their prices are higher than neighboring bars. They didn't have any apple cider or ale on tap so I paid $8 for a can of ale. They probably get away with the higher prices and limited drink variety because they are connected to the double tree hotel

Pretty poor service, pretty good food. We waited in line at the host stand for a good 15 minutes even though we were early to our 530 reservation. For some reason the host was taking food order from about 5 people who came in off the street. Strikes me the host should direct people who want to order food to the bar rather than delay people looking to be seated, especially with a reservation. After we were seated it took a good 15 minutes for a server to show up who admitted "everyone is a bit confused". It was not overly busy so I dont know what the confusion was. We ordered drinks and tried to order appetizers and the server got a bit defensive that he couldn't do both at the same time as he was too busy...he did take the order but i'm not sure what the issue was. While the service didn't get too much better the food was pretty good. Dry rub wings were damn good. We shared a few wood fire pizzas and really enjoyed the butternut squash pizza actually. Also went to grab a cribbage board as Rival House advertises as a place to play games and there were 2 boards but no playing cards. So TLDR...bad service, maybe bad management in general, good food. I probably won't go back.

I've been here twice and both times I was extremely happy. The last time I had Grandma V's Cranberry Chili with black angus beef, butter beans and cranberries and oddly enough, the cranberries were a fabulous addition! I will be back to try more!

The white collar sports bar of downtown St. Paul. Very good food options. Try their pizza or sesame ginger chicken salad. Decent happy hour specials and plenty of parlor and board games. Service is usually above average.
