Noticeably overpriced compared to their local competitors. I recommend checking the surrounding LP stores for better deals before visiting Red Onion. On the plus side, very friendly owners.

Sadly in 2018 storefront sales of things like records are dying, and as a result places like this have way overpriced items. A Tori Amos 12" single that caught my eye was priced at $14, whereas it's available online for $1.99 plus $3 shipping. If this place was at all interesting or unique, or if the staff (the one woman present during my visit at least) didn't seem so unwelcoming and disinterested, it might make the difference.

I’m shocked I’ve never rated this place. It’s the best record store in DC, hands down. The staff is incredible. Nice humans who can give you great recs on music to check out. The selection is great and diverse. Prices are very reasonable. Both new and old records. Love it!

Love their selection, it's well curated and organized so it's always worth going through. The atmosphere is nice, since it's ground level rather than a basement shop.

Really really fantastic. Good spread of rare gems and solid crowd-pleasers. Mostly rock music but with a good selection of soul as well. New stock rotates regularly and stays high-quality. I go every week and almost always find something to get. The staff is friendly and informative, the shelves are well-organized, the prices aren't awful, it's basically everything you'd want in a neighborhood record shop. Can't recommend it higher.
