Went to Private Park at the Hudson Hotel after work a few weeks ago to meet friends for a drink and some bar food. It was a Tuesday - so not crowded at all. The day was hot, but Private Park was pretty cool. Lots of shade and greenery. There's a small bar in a corner of the space, sponsored by Veuve Cliquot this summer. Great champagne and rose. The bartender was very friendly and very generous with the pours. It was the perfect setting for a chill - not loud - midweek outing. After a few rounds my friends and I were hungry. We walked into the adjacent beer hall and ordered fries, burgers and buffalo wings. The burgers were perfectly cooked and tasty. The fries were thick - not quite like a steak fry - but crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The wings were coated in a sweet glaze with a 10/10 rating for spiciness. After demolishing three wings the spiciness waned OR my mouth was so numb that I could no longer feel the heat (lol). There's no wait service here. Everything is order at the counter and bring to your own table - though there were busboys who collect and remove the empty plates, glass etc. throughout the evening. Last call was a little before 9:30PM, followed by a warning that the space would close in 30 minutes, followed by an attendant asking people to move inside or leave at 10PM sharp. All in all we had a great time. Definitely recommend giving Private Park a try.

What a swanky place! Lots of bright lights, an unpside down hanging chair, a tree-trunk turned chair and live jazz on Wednesdays. I had to leave a little early, so missed the loud jazz but that definitely would have enhanced the experience from the club-feel music they were playing when I arrived. I'm not normally one who frequents such trendy places so it was a freshing venue change for me. Take the time to admire the picture on the ceiling of the fish and the woman fighting over an engagement ring, totally crazy! The drinks look amazing (watched a bartender add sour apple, cinnamon, vodka and some other delicious add-ins) but are expensive (plan on $16 a drink). Not some place I would go everynight, but it was fun for a change. It was a little too modern and loungy for my taste, but I definitely see the appeal and it fits perfectly for the part of town it's located in.

Once you take the elevator up from the entrance to the Hudson Hotel, you’ll find Henry, a Liquor Bar. It’s a stylish bar that has a wide open feel that could be great for a get-together, a date, or for mingling. There are many plush couches, tables, and seats, and also a random light-up sofa chair…? In any case, the drinks served here are solid; the bartenders can also make you a drink based on your alcohol of choice, though they’re not speakeasy quality. Service is attentive, and drinks and napkins are cleared away quickly and inconspicuously. Coat check is available.

I am a native New Yorker and will keep to the directness of how we are known to be :) Drinks: Great. Space: This was the Hudson Bar. The have redesigned it to make it less clubby. It has more of a living room feel with the same eclectic design style. It is a very expansive space with chairs and coaches with built in lamps where the dance floor used to be. Scene: Very cozy and sleek lounge bar. The lounge is a large open space that is conducive to mixing and mingling. The space is intimate think: mood lighting, eclectic couches, and no reserved table business :) Good for get-togethers and date night. Crowd: Afterwork scene. Surprisingly not the usual touristy crowd that the Hudson usually attracts. Service: Very attentive and courteous!
