Super laid back, awesome people, homey atmosphere ... What more could you want? Oh yeah, and the food was fantastic. Chicken was perfect, black-eyed peas delicious, and the cabbage very tasty. First time there, and will definitely be back.

Service was good. I had the fried chicken which is their premier menu item. The batter was tasty but the chicken was oily to the point of being greasy. The killer for me was going to the restroom. It was dingy and dirty. A mop bucket with opaque dirty water was in middle of floor. No soap to wash hands and the hot water faucet did not work. The walls were even dirty. I had seen an employee come out so it made wonder how he’d washed his hands. Not a place I feel comfortable eating in so never again.

I’m from the south (Alabama) and we moved here almost 3 years ago! Mrs. White’s Golden Rule is the only restaurant so far that we’ve been to, to have that southern style feel! The food is beyond delicious! Prices are reasonable! Don’t let the little building fool you, it’s a “must try” type of place! You won’t be disappointed!!

The good: the food is pretty good. The bad: Went in for lunch and ordered a sandwich, which said it was in the $7 range. When I go to pay, I'm pointed at a paper on the counter saying every meal is 13.00. Almost double what I was expecting to pay. This isn't on the menu, it's only at the checkout. The worse: The wait staff was... unprofessional. When checking out the person in front of me, the cashier straight up took cash out of the tip jar and put it in her bra. Twice. And just told the man, "You know how it is". The food was good, but I'm not sure I'll be going back.

There is no way to describe how delicious the fried chicken is. We sampled a few other items on the menu too but by far the crispy chicken skin makes you want to order extra and come back for more. Get the chicken!!! Oh and don't forget the sweet tea. You're in a mom&pop restaurant in the middle of downtown. Don't expect fast service and be patient. It's worth the wait.
