Ghetto, Dangerous, And dirty. Unruly type of people hanging out.

It's just always so dirty out on the field. That's my only complaint. The same pistachio shells and riff-raff trash bits are here week after week until the wind takes care of it. The courts and field are well-lit and that's wonderful for spectators and athletes.

This rec center is walking distance to my house, and I choose to drive almost 20 minutes to Central Park just to avoid this place. The lady at the front desk in the morning is the worst person I have ever had the displeasure of paying to interact with. Every single time I came in she was rude, or did not acknowledge me at all. She asked me to come take a photo after swim class one morning (when I was sweating, hair partially wet, no makeup etc.), and when I requested to take it the next time I came in she was extremely rude. I didn't understand why it wasn't taken when I first signed up for a membership, and I swear she would do things like this just to make the experience more miserable because I don't know why it needed to be done that day. I realized I was feeling grumpy after leaving each time I came, and it was because I had to see her- it really was that bad and a terrible way to start the day. I was coming for the aqua fitness classes, and they were a complete joke. The lifeguards doing the classes were often on their phones during class and did not seem prepared at all, mostly just going off the same sheet class after class. I like current top 40ish music, but the things they would choose for class seemed inappropriate for the crowd and class. It was also more of a social club with most of the participants standing around and chatting vs following the class. After a few weeks of trying to just make it work, I decided I felt very unwelcome here and chose to look at other recs for classes. Central Park isn't perfect, but it's a whole lot more welcoming, cleaner and larger.

I've come to this recreation center for 10 years, and for the last year, have never felt more unwelcome. I actually had to cancel my membership because the manager started limiting the number of times I could come into the facility. All I (and my 2-3 other friends) use is a floor and an outlet (I'm a bgirl), and after much trial and error, have been forced to use the basketball court--which wouldn't be a problem, if the teenagers didn't bully myself and the few others I bring to train in A CORNER of the court. At first, I got it, it's a basketball court, not a dance room (that of which we are prohibited from using unless we pay to rent it out--and it's a filthy room by the way, because NO ONE USES IT.). But if we occupy a small corner first, then IT IS our space, according to the Director of Parks and Rec. Of course, it doesn't help that the primary manager "told her staff about us" and makes it pretty clear that she doesn't like us. One staff member was nice enough to let us into the dance room when the primary manager wasn't there and the courts were too full since he (and few other staff) were witness to an unfortunate turn of events between us and some teenagers. We've had to get a refund on a couple occasions because, overall, the staff treats the recreation center like a Boys and Girls Club and would rather direct their business towards students playing hookie with their MyDenver Card than customers paying full-price to get into the facility.

Great place to work out. Gym is usually pact but everything else is pleasant plus a nice pond outside so us can run around on the trail. I even brought my dog and the staff brought out a bowl and water for my German shipyard. Thx
