**Please keep going to a better place if you can. If you need to stop now, it will do for a rest but for the price ($75+) you can probably do better!** My husband stayed at this hotel last night and reported the following to me today: The parking lot was very confusing - chains across some entrances and hard to navigate, especially in the dark. The place had an overall feel of "rundown". The comforters looked soiled. The door latch was broken and he saw a dead bug in the bathroom and a live bug in the main area of the room. He said neither looked like a cockroach but he couldn't figure out what they were. He wasn't able to get a decent night's sleep due to the overall uncomfortable feel of the room. They do offer a continental breakfast but he chose to pass on it based on his overall impression of the place. **Please keep going to a better place if you can. This location needs to be deleted from the Wyndham group of offerings. A remodel effort is in progress, but the facility is one of La Quinta's older designs and short of a complete demolition and rebuild it may be beyond salvage. Our room had received "renovation" with new bed (very comfortable), credenza and TV but the bathroom was very tired. They put up new tile but left an old, cracked tub. The grout looked to have been done by a kindergartener who had been turned loose with a cake decorating set - wide globs of goop and silicone. Sink drained slow (systematic) of a monster wad of hair in the trap) and the AC panel showed "ERR" and would clear for 60 seconds before going back to a non-adjustable state. Fortunately the fan stayed running. Most troubling was the clerk at check in. She was just awful - no smile, no greeting, no small talk and just generally rude. The morning staff was friendly and warm - maybe night shift lady was just having, "... a bad day." however, in thin industry there is only one chance to make a good impression that reflects the facility to someone checking in and she failed. Will not stay here again - ever.

We have stayed at La Quinta Inns many times before, and this one in Bakersfield is one of the worst. The front desk was efficient and friendly. However, the door to our room wouldn't open so we had to trek back to the lobby. The door knob remained difficult to open the whole time we were there. The room looked clean, but obviously a prior tenant had smoked cigarettes inside and housekeeping tried to mask it with a quadruple dose of cheap cleaning chemicals. The shower curtain had built in grommets that were meant to be used with another type of bar. Sigh. The shower mat had peeled loose. At least the sheets were white and apparently clean (i.e., no bed bugs or other critters). It's cheap and you get what you pay for. Hoping the bad smells cleared my sinuses. Breakfast was abominable. No coffee, no tea, just a bunch of homeless looking people making one waffle after another.

This would have rated higher in the rooms! But there were roaches in there! They were walking all over the Coffee cups around the edges of the trash cans you know for Wyndham I was kind of disappointed but the service was excellent and it was a great location next to the freeway

a friendly staff. sketchy neighborhood. the cleanliness of the room was alright, some stains here & there. the room had a moderate smell of cigarettes. there was no “do not disturb” sign in the room. weren’t able to adjust the volume on the tv due to hotel settings on tv. the latch to prevent the door from opening all the way was loose/broken. breakfast was a joke, little to no options. overall an okay stay for the price, wouldn’t go back.
