Beautiful hotel love the fact there are walk out patios and balcony’s. The lady at the front desk was top notch customer service!(12/13) Room was very clean and the lobby decor was very modern and upbeat! The pool view is gorgeous! Only staying for 1 night unfortunately wish we could stay more! Great job!

I travel a lot and let me tell you ... Bakersfield, is a forgettable place. HOWEVER, I was very impressed by the Hourglass. Our room was immaculate, super clean and the location was great, right on the 99 and 24th street underpass! The price is great when compared to other lodging options of this caliber. I was most impressed by the spaciousness of the room which was fairly comfortable for a family of four. The breakfast was almost non-existing, but that is a small downside when compared to everything else. This is certainly a pleasant surprise in a city like Bakersfield!

It looks nice on the outside from the renovations, and in the pictures, but it wasn't as nice once you checked in and spent some time in your room and at the pool. The room was clean, but for being newer it already had damage and it looked like they used some old curtains, our balcony chair was sun worn and had a huge tear in it, we couldn't even sit in that one, and the carpet already had stains. The pool area looked nice from the balcony, but the pool didn't look too clean, it had a bunch of stuff floating in it, the chairs were all stained and worn already, there were dirty towels everywhere and trash in one of the cool little cabana things. The all day coffee bar is convenient and nice, and the staff is super friendly, very helpful and didn't have any issues with loud noises, car being broken into, or anything. Its not in a terrible location, but it's not in the best either.

We stayed one night here. We are locals here in town and by Bakersfield standards, this is one of the cleaner hotels around. Check in process was a little long considering we had pre-booked the hotel so it should've been quicker at the desk. We had one of the last rooms on the upper floor before the rest of the rooms next door were still being renovated or worked one, so it was kinda loud from all the workers in and out. When we walked into our room there was a used blue plastic glove on the floor. Some spots on the walls were dirty like around the bathroom door frames. AC unit was loud but I think that's notorious for most hotels. I went with my husband so I felt safe but I wouldn't come here alone or with girlfriends because some of the construction men kept giving me weird looks and as I was leaving in the morning I turned around and one was just staring at me from all the way down the hallway. The exterior of the building looks bad, it needs to be repainted. I've stayed in many nice hotels around CA but this hotel didn't give off good vibes. There was a man around 11pm that night who seen us getting out our car and said he left the entry door propped open for convenience. Not safe at all! Also the receptionist called twice within the first 30 minutes of us checking into our room asking if everything was going fine. Was a bit annoying, but understand it was likely part of his job duties. Mostly clean hotel but we won't be back.

Fantastic place to stay if you are this far out in the boonies. The pool is very nice, large and deep. No diving boards, but 9' in the deep end. It is similar to a motel style where you step from your room to an "outside" area, although you still have a roof and a concrete floor. This overall adds to it in my opinion, as it is easy to get to the pool regardless of where you are thanks to the layout. My one point of improvement would be breakfast. It was some rather stale Danish, an orange, and a granola bar in a bag. Just don't expect to be satisfied in terms of food for free. If you are coming through I would choose the hourglass just for the pool, and I would definitely stay here again.
