::Friendly counter help, freshly made donuts (in house) daily, fair French crullers, good apple fritters, good bear claws, croissants that don't have the consistency of a bread roll (a problem that plagues most places that make their own). Very good coffee. And the person behind the counter will make a fresh English muffin sandwich (ala scrambled egg and cheese +what you like for breakfast pork) for a very reasonable price. I have been frequenting this establishment for over 20 years. They have never let me down no matter what hour of the day or, night. If you are in the neighborhood it is worth stopping in to try any of their offerings. The best time to go is either last thing at night after drinks and first thing in the morning when trying to get a good jump on the day.

::One should not complain about a place open 24 hours a day in SF, so I won't... It's a great place to go if you don't mind a stoic and less than friendly staff, but they do have a restroom (if you purchase something) and the donuts are reasonably good. The coffee needs a lot of help... And like I said, they are open 24/-.
