This is one of my favorite places to eat in a town full of great places to eat. Their seafood gumbo and red beans and rice are fantastic. The bread pudding is too. Prices are reasonable and sitting in the courtyard is pleasant even on warm days. When I am in NOLA I some time eat here twice in 5 days, it's that good. Eat here!

Welcome to the Gumbo shop! Our server must have said it 10 times...and it was true. We had to wait to get in but it was totally worth it. Great drinks...food was New Orleans solid. Love the got sauce...as our server said..'put that on anything and it makes it disappear.' Will come back next time in town.

I actually fly from NY to New Orleans just to have dinner here! Their gumbo and bread pudding' s out of this world! An experience your taste buds will NEVER forget! Also, let's not forget the service! The servers are phenomenal!! There are to servers named Michael and Mike who are the best servers I've ever experienced and I'm a Chef! They are Amazing and that's an understatement! Make sure to go to the Gumbo Shop while in NOLA! You'll be happy you did! One word to describe this place.... LOVE!

Loved the alligator sausage you must try it. The gumbo was OK. I have actually had better In Cali. The chicken with mushroom sauce was good a little salty. Over all it was OK but I guess my expectations were too high. It is a tourist destination so what do we know right?.. Servers didn't care much about. Just wanted you in and out.

I had been to the gumbo shop once on my first visit to New Orleans about 15 years ago and this was my first trip back. I was excited to return for some more genuine gumbo after all these years. Upon arrival, the long line was a bit intimidating but moved very quickly. We got the alligator sausage, jambalaya and gumbo. The food was good but not special. It seemed somewhat generic. It didn’t exactly live up to my expectations, but it was still good. All in all, a good satisfying lunch.
