We have been customers for 16+ years, and have spent prob 100k dollars on oil... we asked for a 1 time fill of less than their normal delivery... and the refused... we explained they are on our block almost daily anyway... and not only did they refuse they were rude and obnoxious and basically said they don't care if they lose our business! Their customer service is terrible!!!! And I would never trust a company with such poor customer service, it's a shame!

Dowling Fuel Co. has been my home heating oil provider for several years now and I highly recommend them. Oil deliveries are always made on time and the maintenance performed on my burner has kept it running efficiently for many years. When my oil tank, which is located in the basement, needed to be replaced Dowling came in and performed what is a very dirty job professionally and cleanly.

We have been loyal Dowling customers for 17 years. The customer service department is always helpful and quick to schedule an appointment. Dowling installed AC when we moved in so they service both our heating and cooling needs. All of their repair/service workers are highly skilled and professional as well as personable. I highly recommend Dowling to all my friends and neighbors.

Dowling replaced our heating system about a year ago. I have to tell you - they did an incredible job and our heating has been fantastic ever since...especially during this last month of sub zero temps! Dowling arrived in the morning when they said they would and stayed late until the job was finally finished. There were several men working here and they were so quiet, I actually forgot they were even here. And they were exceptionally CLEAN - which almost never happens. The quote was right on the money and we got EXACTLY what we ordered and paid for. No add-ins or surprises. The salesman and the men who worked at our house were very polite and respectful and went above and beyond the call of duty. Really appreciate that! Wish Dowling did more than HVAC - they make having work done a very pleasant experience. Thank you Dowling!

TL;DR : If you expect professionalism from a company, and don't expect to be bullied by them for pettiness, don't take your chances with this company. It makes me wonder about what else they might do to a customer based on their personal feelings. -- My family was buying oil from this company for 11 years. My husband bought a house which has an oil boiler, but it stopped working. We had already been shopping around for the pricing on replacing the boiler and were having difficulties insuring the house due to the underground oil tank, so for a long time we had planned to switch to gas. We already consulted with 3 companies, and one company told us we needed to remove the oil tank right away before they would work on it. We liked this company's 24-month payback plan, so we called Dowling to ask them to buy back oil (we bought $437 worth of oil from them only a couple weeks back) and they started prying into our situation and told us they would replace the oil boiler for a smaller price but needed to come into give us a quote. We had been without heat for already a month now, so we were exhausted from shopping around and tired. Every other company gave us higher quotes, so we did not expect them to give us the price over the phone or the 24-month finance plan (nothing on Dowling's website indicated any of what they told us on the phone, and they had not given us any paperwork contracts to prove to us they would charge us as little as they told us). We told them to come out anyway because we needed the oil removed at any rate, and we thought we would give them a chance to prove what they said over the phone. That evening another company that we had already decided not to work with for the whole project was over. We told them we wanted them to do our pipes while we went with another company for the project. The representative on the spot decided to match the first company's 24-month financing plan, and also gave us discounts so they were less expensive than the first company. This company also offered many guarantees and peace-of-mind that, if during the process, they had to do more than what they quoted us on, they would include this work without extra payment from us. It is an old house so the peace of mind was welcome. We wanted to think about it during the night and see Dowling's offer, but they told us that if we didn't go with them, they couldn't give us the same offer down the line. We calculated debated and went with that company. We liked the warranties and guarantees that no other company, including Dowling, had written down in paper or mentioned on their website. In the morning, my husband called Dowling to reschedule the oil pick-up. Dowling showed up after the phone call anyway. They saw the other company's truck and rudely told my husband "OH, so you're going with THEM?!! GUESS WHAT! We will NOT buy back the oil! We will charge you to take it back!" . My husband was immediately grateful that we did NOT go with Dowling because if their professionalism is any indication of their workmanship, then it is not the kind of company we would want doing any kind of work on our house! We thought maybe he was just emotional, so we called Dowling the next day, but they had actually blocked blacklisted our address! They could have made a profit from buying the oil back from us at a fraction of the cost, but now we have sold the oil to another company who paid us for it. I had a positive view of them before this whole mess. They are bullying us because we exercised our consumer rights to go with a competitor. That is not the kind of company I would recommend or trust! It makes me wonder what they would have done to my house if they came to work on it and I asked them for a discount? Would they use old parts for payback? Who knows? A petty company like this is capable of anything. Shameful company.
