My brother's been telling me how nice of church it was so I decided to go and I really enjoyed it too I wish I lived closer. My brother had to have his half his leg amputated and the church was really good to him and they're for him and that meant a lot to me. Lot of good people at that church I would like to make some friends there myself.

I agree with Jack Dawkins' comment below and would say there's good reason not to trust anything associated with the Cleveland, TN based Church of God. In Kentucky they apparently answer to Kentucky State Administrative Bishop, Bruce Rabon. I have dealt with this man over a corrupt GoG pastor in Louisville, KY and was not impressed. The Bishop didn't want to hear witnesses and review written evidence about the pastor who slanders and lies. On the Kentucky CoG website, the Bishop incorrectly claims "Tithing was commanded “before” the giving of the law, during the law, and was never stopped at the time of Christ even though the opportunity was there." There are several scriptural fallacies with the Bishop's statement. 1. There is NO WHERE in scripture that God commended a tithe prior to the giving of the law. Yes, Abram gave a tithe of war spoils (other people's belongings) the Melchizedek (King of Salem) and returned the rest (minis a small portion for his men) to the King of Sodom. (Gen 14:20-23) But there is no where scripture says Abram or anyone else was commanded to tithe and gave tithes of their own income prior to the law. 2. During the law, the tithe was ALWAYS food - never monetary even though you can find mentions of money throughout scripture. Genesis 47:15-17, Deuteronomy 14:24-26, Matthew 17:24-27 are but a few examples. There were also multiple tithes. 3. While chastising the Pharisee (who were under the Law) in Matt 23:23, Jesus said the tithing was a matter of the law. Further, He notes that it's not even a weightier matter of the law. And note, the tithes the Pharisees were paying were food - not money - even though the gospels clearly state that they used money. 4. True, tithing didn't stop during the time of Christ as the law was in force until Calvary. And while Jews continued to tithe for a while following Calvary, the Christian Church did not. There is not one mention in the epistles that say people are to follow the old tithe commands. Actually, 2 Cor 9:7 states that we can give as purposed in our hearts and not of necessity. I asked four CoG pastors to show scripture in context where God commands a monetary tithe of those in Christ. One called for physical violence against me and three tried to rebuke me. How they think they can teach false doctrine and yet rebuke someone in Jesus' name is beyond me. The confusion is actually caused by the CoG twisting scripture to keep the unknowing congregations in the bondage of the law. In short, Jesus didn't use deception - the father of lies using that tactic is Satan. (And CoG leadership would do well to study Revelation 21:7-8 to see where unrepentant liars are headed.) Additionally, Jesus said "‘These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. They worship Me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men.’” (Matt 15:8-9). Scripture warns numerous times to beware of false teachers and those seeking to make merchandise of you. So like Jack Dawkins, I certainly don't trust CoG or their leadership. I trust no one masquerading as being of Christ while using teaching lies.
