I hadn't been here for 20+ years and was surprised at how polished and updated it was yet still had a classic and historic feeling about it. We arrived at 10pm on a Saturday and there was no wait, but the place filled up in the next hour. Or server hustled and never stopped smiling. The sing-along was at a fever pitch by the time we left, after midnight. I can't imagine going here and not having a great time. Comfortable, easy and fully entertaining.

Anyone who gives this place 1 Star might be an idiot! I’m looking at you Madi Love. This place is wonderful if you’re not and uptight prude it’s a bar. It has good food, it smells like smoke because they have a smoking patio (what a mind boggled). Don’t walk in with too many expectations of high end service and understand it’s not fancy, it is what it is and it’s awesome just for being that, if you don’t get that than it’s not for you and that’s fine. It’s a classic standard for the Capitol Hill area. Buy one get one happy hour, Buck no they’re not going to split that up, and that $35 tab they give you on your birthday? Don’t expect to be able to share that either because if you can’t drink $35 worth of booze this probably isn’t a place for you anyway.

Seems grand, came for a cigar and coffee. Lucky for me I have my own cigars. My "Where to smoke" app said this is a good place. Like the location and the food is an 8.5. Almost great. But it may have been the time of day I stopped by.

We had Friday dinner at Charlie Brown's and arrived early, so we got right in. The service was good, and the servers were professional and polite, although we had to ask for napkins and cutlery after our bread had been delivered to the table. My partner liked his food better than I did mine. For me, flavors were unexpected and a little off. Drinks were cheap, but weak. The water tasted a little metallic. Charlie Brown's is a piano bar, so I was anticipating a quieter experience. I loved yelling at people in a bar when I was 25, but not so much these days. Expect to smell smoke from the outdoor patio when you arrive.

I just moved to the neighborhood and I was extremely excited to try this place, just a block away from my home. I brought 3 friends with me and lucky us it was 2 for 1 happy hour. Two of my friends went in before us and asked for water, because they were not drinking. The waitress threw attitude immediately and was clearly mad they weren't ordering drinks, even though they ensured her that we were coming in and about to order. I ordered one gin fizz and was going to give the other one to my friend who was drinking. We CLEARLY only asked for two drinks (the buy one get one). When the waitress came back she dropped off 4 drinks, we immediately told the waitress this was a mistake and we had only ordered 2 drinks and that she was charging us incorrectly. She fought us and stated that their policy was that they wouldn't split happy hour drinks, even though I paid and stated that when she was at our table. She was extremely aggressive and refused to admit her fault, fighting us to the end. Saying, "We do not split happy hour drinks, I didn't make a mistake. Do we have a problem here, I will just go and get my manager". We didn't even touch our drinks, I was very upset and suggested we just leave after I had already paid and left a standard tip. The manager comes over to us and insists the payment is accurate and said repeatedly that he would speak to the incredibly rude waitress. It would be one thing if they had disclosed that they do not split happy hour drinks and we would be getting four drinks, but it was never said and we were absolutely charged incorrectly. We dealt with MULTIPLE rude and passive aggressive comments from our waitress. It was clear she made a mistake and refused to change the bill. I didn't mind paying for it and absolutely didn't refuse to to tip on a bill I was incorrectly charged for. What I could not handle was how rude our waitress was and how poorly it was handled. From a customer service perspective I have NEVER been treated so poorly in my life and it was clear she felt she could take advantage of us because we were young. I have been dying to check this place out and the vibe when we got in was amazing, heck they were doing piano covers of the beastie boys. However, after being treated so poorly I will never come back. I have never been rude or demanding to a service person but I believe this server should be let go and I would like to be contacted by a manager or an owner to be refunded as we didn't even touch our drinks and it was so clearly not what we expected or asked for. I have never walked out of a place or left a full drink on the table but I walked out of there so mad I couldn't even think.
