I was using a friend's time share credits and had a one bedroom unit. It was very nicely laid out and appointed. There was a combo living/dining room with a galley kitchen on the side. They had everything you would need to really cook except an oven. There was a sizable fridge, a microwave, mini-dishwasher, a two-burner induction range, a full complement of dishes and pots and pans, eating and cooking utensils, even a little set of spices.

Overall, the room was clean, we had a self catering full kitchen, the shower was nice and the guest services were hospitable. It's right on a trolley stop which makes for convenient travel to and from the French quarter. Why the three stars? Walls are thin. Like, really thin. We could hear people talking in the next room as if they were in our own room. Which means they could hear us, so we felt obligated to pretty much whisper and stay as non intrusive as possible. Doors also slam hard so we often woken up. Lastly, the air conditioner in the room, while it worked great, was so loud it would also wake us up every 20 minutes when it turned on and off. So we had to choose between loud people talking and slamming doors, or a crazy loud a/c unit as the means of sleep sacrifice. Also, the trolley while cheap and convenient appears to be operated by folks that hate their job. We were rudely greeted and often times the trolley just would drive on by because they were so full. One time we waited 30 minutes. The trolley stopped, and 8 people got off. We tried to get on and the operator told us we had to wait for the one behind him. The following trolley was a training train and they said it would be another 30 minutes. At that point it was just faster to walk the 20 minutes to our hotel... but we had already paid money for the day passes, so what was the point. Oh yeah, the 90 minute breakfast presentation was over 2.5 hours. They were very nice and we got a $50 gift card out of it which went towards dinner. But the breakfast was not the best. The question is whether or not $50 is worth your time

Hotel staff was great. The rooms were comfortable with update furnishing. Rooftop provided a good view of the city. Restaurant inside resort "Mr. John's Steakhouse". The food and service was outstanding. It's a bit pricey but well worth it.

The check in staff and concierge were very hospitable. Room was clean, and recently painted as there was some leftover latex scent in the bathroom. The location of Avenue Plaza, in the Garden District, places you among beautiful historic homes, great food that ranges from inexpensive to very expensive, and lots of places where you can explore and shop to your heart's content. The St.Charles streetcar has a stop within 100 feet of the entrance so if you're heading out for a night (or day) in the French Quarter, getting to and from is very convenient. If you bring your vehicle with you, the only parking available on site is Valet parking. The daily rate is comparable to most hotel valet. I recommend parking your car in Valet, then just walking or using the transit system to get around.

Don't let the sales people ruin your trip. The resort and resort staff are great. The sales people, even if you're an 'owner', will find a way to ruin your stay. Say no quickly and often to the sales people even if they just want to 'educate' you. Would be four or five stars otherwise.
