  The cleanest, most pleasant, organized hardware store I've ever seen. The owner super-friendly and competent. It may be cheaper to go to a Home Depot or a Lowe's, but the personal touch and seasoned advice is worth the little more $.

  Service - it's a very important part of a hardware store, and no one does it better than American Royal Hardware. Roy and his staff have been helping me for more than 20 years. "There are no dumb questions" is the way they treat me EVERY time I come in.

  Friendly and helpful staff. Bigger store than it appears from outside; lots stuff to start or complete a project.

  We began shopping at Thompsons Hardware when we first moved to Montclair in 1970. I loved that store.! Then it became American Royal when Roy and his dad took over the store.They have carried on the excellent customer service. Always helping to find exactly what you are looking for. Thank You Roy !   Everything a hardware store should be -- excellent selection, super service, super knowledgeable staff that not only takes you to the item you need, but helps you problem solve. I've been going there for 30+ years and will never go anywhere else.
